Questions from Chavey Down

Do you come out to small places like Chavey Down?

No, we cook in small places too. Let us know about access and parking.

What’s the nearest station to Chavey Down for guests?

The closest is Martins Heron station, roughly 1 mile away.

Do we need staff for canapés?

We can provide staff. Canapés need staff to carry them round.

Do you cater for vegetarian guests?

Yes, and meat eaters frequently go back for seconds. They have their own pans, stock and spoons.

How long does the paella take?

We arrive well before serving to set up and start the stock. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, and we time it to your schedule.

Do you provide drinks?

Yes, sangria. For other drinks, we can provide bar staff to serve what you buy.

Is it really cooked live?

Yes. We cook from scratch in large pans at your venue, in front of your guests.

Do you clear up afterwards?

We clear our cooking area away when service is finished. Clearing guests’ plates and tables can be added with waiting staff.

Tapas catering in Chavey Down, made fresh on the day

We finish hot tapas on site, so they arrive hot. We cook tortilla española, padrón peppers and albóndigas, and we’re often booked for work receptions and birthday drinks.

In a rural spot like Chavey Down, tapas can be served in a garden, barn or marquee. Each paella is cooked from scratch on the day, never made in advance and reheated, and served as soon as it’s ready.

How it works

Your timings come first. If things run behind, we adjust the cooking so it’s still served fresh. At midsummer, it is light in Chavey Down until about 9:25pm, perfect for canapés outdoors. By late September it’s dark around 7:05pm, and in December by about 3:55pm.

  1. It starts with your date, venue, numbers and how you want the tapas served.
  2. You get a suggested selection and a price.
  3. On the day we arrive, set up and finish the hot tapas on site.
  4. We serve canapés with drinks or set table tapas down to share.
  5. We clear away our equipment when service is finished.

What affects the price in Chavey Down

Here’s what makes the biggest difference to the price:

  • Chicken, vegetable or premium seafood

  • Starters, canapés and desserts
  • Staff: cooks, waiting staff and bar staff

Tapas, desserts, sangria, staff and crockery are optional extras, so you can choose exactly what you need.

What we need to know

You don’t need every detail fixed to get a quote, but these help:

  • Expected numbers
  • Anything your venue supplies
  • Your date and when you want to eat
  • Diets and allergies you know about

Tell us your date, venue or postcode and roughly how many guests, along with any dietary needs, and we’ll reply with a menu suggestion and a quote. Just fill in our quote form.

Should I cook it myself?

Hiring a pan and burner is one option, but you’ll still need to source ingredients, prep and cook for hours. A caterer handles all of that.

Plenty of people try cooking paella for their own party. The usual problems are a pan too big for the burner, too much rice and stirring once the rice is in. If you’d rather be with your guests, we will do the cooking.

  • Cooked live in giant pans at your event
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal options
  • Paella, tapas, canapés and desserts
