Paella catering across SO20

Live paella works almost anywhere with a level, ventilated spot: a garden, marquee, barn, courtyard or field. We cook black rice, chicken and chorizo paella and paella Valenciana, and typical bookings are for company summer parties and family celebrations and christenings.

Your timings come first. If speeches run late or the photos take longer, we adjust the cooking so it is served at its best.

  1. Send us your date, numbers and venue.
  2. We plan a menu that covers every diet.
  3. We arrive in good time to set up.
  4. The sofrito, stock and rice go in, and guests gather to watch.
  5. Service is straight from the pan, then we pack down.

Live paella across SO20: what to know

There are 3 towns and 15 villages and hamlets in SO20, so whether your event is in Hyde, Highcliffe and Winnall or a quiet village, the approach is the same: a level, ventilated spot and a clear plan.

Broughton: If you are celebrating after a service at a church like Church of St Mary the Virgin, live paella at a garden or venue nearby works well. If you are organising a summer fair for a school like Broughton Primary School, a paella stall is a crowd-pleaser. Evenings in Broughton stay light until about 9:25pm in June, but by late September sunset is around 7:10pm; after dark, the cooking and serving areas need good lighting.

Dishes our guests love

Paella Valenciana

Paella Valenciana is the original: chicken, beans and saffron, not seafood. It’s a favourite with guests who don’t eat fish.

Mixed paella

Paella mixta combines meat and seafood in one pan.

Should I cook it myself?

You can cook paella for a crowd yourself, but it takes practice. A big pan needs a burner that heats it evenly, and getting the rice right for dozens of people takes experience. Read how to cook paella for a crowd.

Hiring a pan and burner is one option, but there’s shopping, prep and hours of cooking. A caterer handles all of that.

Catering for every guest

Dietary needs are easy to plan for with a little notice. Our advice:

  • Count adults and children separately
  • Tell us about coeliac guests specifically
  • Ask about diets and allergies on your invitation or RSVP
  • Ask for labels on each pan

After service, we pack down our cooking area, quietly and quickly.

Sangria and bar staff can be added for your own drinks.

Planning the cooking area

Most outdoor spaces and many venues work for live paella, but a few things matter:

  • Level ground for the pans and burners
  • Outdoor space or a ventilated gazebo
  • A safe distance from anything that could catch

Prices and what affects them

The price comes down to a few factors:

  • Parking and unloading
  • Plates, cutlery and glassware
  • Extra courses such as canapés, tapas and dessert
  • Your choice of paellas

Travel, parking and access can affect the price, so it helps to tell us about your venue. Everything is confirmed in writing.

What we need to know

When you get in touch, it helps to tell us:

  • Any dietary needs and allergies
  • Anything your venue supplies
  • Which courses you have in mind
  • A picture of where we’d cook

Send us the date, your venue or SO20 postcode and guest numbers, plus any dietary needs, and we’ll reply with a menu suggestion and a quote. Just fill in our quote form.

SO20 questions

Which areas do you serve?

We cover London and the South East, including Hampshire. See all areas.

Are premium seafood options available?

We’ll suggest seafood to suit your menu and budget. Premium shellfish can be added.

Do you offer halal options?

Yes. We use halal chicken and leave out pork and alcohol, in a separate pan.

Can you provide dessert?

We do. Churros, crema catalana and tarta de Santiago are popular choices, or you can serve your own cake.

Can you cater for vegetarians and vegans?

Of course. We cook vegetarian and vegan paellas in their own pans, alongside the meat and seafood pans.

Is paella enough as a main?

Yes. With bread and salad, paella is a complete main.

Is the paella gluten-free?

We can, if you tell us in advance. The rice is gluten-free, but stocks and chorizo can contain gluten, so we cook a gluten-free paella separately.
