Paella catering in Wye

About our paella catering in Wye

Almost any venue with a level, ventilated spot will do: a garden, marquee, barn, courtyard or field. Whether it is staff parties and work lunches and garden parties and summer barbecues, we can cook vegan paella, mixed paella and black rice for your guests.

In a rural place like Wye, the setting does a lot of the work: a paella cooking in a garden or field feels right at home. Let us know about access and ground conditions. Everything is cooked from scratch at your event, never made in advance and reheated.

Wye: your questions answered

Do you come out to small places like Wye?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Let us know about access and parking.

Can you cook at venues in the Kent Downs National Landscape?

Yes, though some venues in protected landscapes have extra rules; ask your venue. We’ll follow the site rules.

Is paella enough as a main?

Yes. With bread and salad, paella is a complete main, and tapas or dessert can be added.

When should we book?

Early, particularly for summer Saturdays. Even if it’s short notice, it’s worth asking.

Do you have a kids’ option?

Yes, children are easy to cater for. Tell us how many and roughly how old, and we will plan a pan with them in mind.

Do you offer halal options?

Yes, we do. Halal paella is cooked with halal chicken and no pork or alcohol, in a separate pan.

Can you cater for vegetarians and vegans?

Yes, and meat eaters frequently go back for seconds. Each is cooked separately, with its own stock and utensils.

What happens if it rains?

A covered, ventilated spot keeps us cooking in the rain. We’ll talk it through before the day.

Dietary needs and planning tips

Dietary needs are easy to plan for with a little notice. We suggest:

  • Plan seating for most guests: paella is easiest eaten sitting down
  • Flag any coeliac guests, not just gluten-free preferences
  • Send allergies to us in writing
  • Count adults and children separately

Let the paella rest for a few minutes before serving, and that’s when we invite guests up.

Bread, salad and lemon wedges make the meal go further and suit guests who aren’t big rice eaters.

Paella compared with other options

Next to a hog roast or barbecue, live paella is easier for vegetarian, vegan and halal guests, because each paella has its own pan. Service from the pan keeps queues moving. When you compare quotes, check what each one includes: staff, crockery, bread and salads, travel and VAT. We itemise ours.

What you get with us

  • A clear, itemised quote
  • Tapas, canapés and desserts if you want them
  • Separate pans for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests
  • Live cooking, not reheated food

Step by step

We cook over gas burners in wide, shallow pans. We need a level, ventilated spot, and we agree where that is before the day. Around midsummer it stays light in Wye until about 9:15pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:00pm, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 3:50pm, so winter events need lighting where we cook.

  1. We start with a few details about your event.
  2. We suggest paellas and extras and send a clear quote.
  3. Timings, access and the cooking area are agreed in advance.
  4. We cook live on the day while guests watch.
  5. We serve from the pan, then pack down.

What paella catering costs

Live paella pricing is straightforward once we know the basics:

  • Chicken, vegetable or premium seafood
  • Distance and access to the venue
  • How many guests are eating
  • Waiting and bar staff

Extras such as tapas, desserts, sangria, staff and crockery are priced separately, so you only pay for what you want.

Getting an accurate quote

Good planning starts with a few facts. Try to include:

  • Any dietary needs and allergies
  • Which courses you have in mind
  • The date and time of the event
  • A picture of where we’d cook

Most quotes start with a few simple details: date, location, guest numbers and diets. You can send us your details through our quote form.

What’s in the pans

Black rice

Black rice looks dramatic and tastes of the sea, and is popular with adventurous guests.

Vegetable and vegan paella

The vegetable pan is a dish in its own right: peppers, artichokes and beans with saffron, cooked in its own pan.

Working with your venue
