Paella catering in Wimbledon, made fresh on the day

One cooking area feeds plenty of people, very little goes to waste, and the food is served hot. That’s why it works for so many events. We cook seafood paella, black rice and vegan paella, and we’re frequently booked for company summer parties and weddings, from canapés to evening food.

In a London neighbourhood like Wimbledon, the cooking spot is generally a back garden, a courtyard or a venue’s terrace. The thing to plan is parking and unloading, so tell us about permits, bays or a driveway when you ask for a quote. We cater for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests, with each paella cooked in its own pan.

The menu, dish by dish

Black rice

Black rice looks dramatic and tastes of the sea.

Seafood paella

The secret is a well-made seafood stock. The shellfish is added late so it stays tender.

Why live cooking beats a buffet

Food trucks and street-food vans serve one portion at a time. A big pan serves many guests fast, so everyone can eat at the same time. Seafood and premium ingredients cost more than chicken or vegetable paellas, so your choice of paellas affects the total. We will suggest options to suit your budget.

Why Wimbledon hosts choose us

  • Separate pans for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests
  • Events in Wimbledon and across Greater London
  • Plates, cutlery and waiting staff available
  • Add tapas, canapés and Spanish desserts

Why choose paella catering in Wimbledon?

It needs no kitchen, so it is at home in gardens, fields and marquees where other catering struggles.

Almost any gathering can work with live paella. In Wimbledon, people book us for events such as:

  • Retirement and leaving parties
  • Family celebrations and christenings
  • Anniversary celebrations
  • Staff parties and work lunches

Parks such as Cannizaro Park normally need the owner’s permission for cooking, so ask before you plan a party there.

Questions to ask before you book

  • VAT, if it applies
  • How many staff are coming, and for how long
  • A clear list of what’s included
  • Who provides the crockery

FAQs for Wimbledon

Can you cater a reception after a service at St. Mark's Church?

Yes, at a garden, marquee or venue nearby with a suitable spot to cook. Churches rarely have space for live cooking, so the meal is normally elsewhere. Tell us where the reception will be.

Which station should guests use for Wimbledon?

Wimbledon station, in Wimbledon itself.

Do you cook it at the event?

Yes, always. We cook from scratch in large pans at your venue, in front of your guests.

How much is live paella catering?

Every event is quoted individually, based on what you actually want. Give us your date, numbers and menu ideas for a clear quote.

Can you cook halal paella?

Yes. We use halal chicken and leave out pork and alcohol, in a separate pan.

Can you serve tapas as well?

Yes. Canapés with drinks or tapas for the tables, served while the paella cooks.

Can you supply plates?

Yes, on request. Proper crockery or quality disposables are available.

Can paella be the only main course?

Yes. Paella with bread and salad makes a full main course, and tapas or dessert can be added.

The process

We cook over gas burners in wide, shallow pans. We need a level, ventilated spot, which we agree with you beforehand. In Wimbledon, the sun sets at about 9:20pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, so summer evening events are generally served in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 3:55pm, so winter events need lighting where we cook.

  1. It starts with your date, venue, numbers and any dietary needs.
  2. We suggest a menu and confirm a quote, including what’s included.
  3. We arrive early, set up the cooking area and start the stock.
  4. Your guests watch the paella cook, with any tapas served first.
  5. We serve it hot from the pan and clear our area when service ends.

Getting ready for the day

  • Give us a contact for the day
  • Get the venue’s permission for cooking
  • Make sure the spot is clear of anything flammable

Before you choose a spot

Before the day, we will agree where we cook. It needs to meet a few simple requirements:

  • Flat, firm ground for the cooking area
  • Space well away from trees, fences and gazebo walls
  • Confirmation that open cooking is allowed

As a London location, Wimbledon is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking takes planning: let us know about permits, bays or off-street parking.

What paella catering costs

We’ll give you a clear, itemised quote. The main things that affect it are:

  • Waiting and bar staff
  • How many courses
  • How many guests are eating
  • Timings and hours

The cost per head typically falls as numbers rise, because the cooking set-up is similar for different sizes of event. Give us your numbers and we will quote.

Details that help

For a quote, it helps to have:

  • Any dietary needs and allergies
  • Approximate guest numbers, including children
  • A photo of the space, if you can
  • What the venue already provides

A detailed enquiry gets a more accurate quote: venue, timings, courses and extras. When you are ready, use our quote form.

Planning for every diet

With a little notice, every diet is easy. Our advice:

  • Request clear labels at the serving table
  • Let us know if anyone has coeliac disease
  • Give us separate numbers for children
  • Plan seating for most guests: paella is easiest eaten sitting down

Paella is at its best straight from the pan, so we serve when guests are ready.

Bread, salad and lemon wedges make the meal go further and suit guests who aren’t big rice eaters.

DIY paella versus live catering

If you do cook yourself, test the pan and burner together beforehand, have hot stock ready, and leave the rice alone once it’s in. Keep a clear zone around the burner.

DIY catering keeps costs down, but the host spends the party cooking. With live paella catering, you get the theatre without the work.

  • Cooked live in giant pans at your event
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal options
  • Paella, tapas, canapés and desserts
