Live paella catering in The Hale
What affects the price in The Hale
The same guest numbers can mean different prices, because of:
- Chicken, vegetable or premium seafood
- Extra courses such as canapés, tapas and dessert
- The length of service
- Parking and unloading
Seafood and premium ingredients cost more than chicken or vegetable paellas, so the menu you choose affects the price. We’ll suggest options to suit your budget.
What we need to know
The more we know about your event, the better we can plan. Please include:
- The date and rough timings
- Roughly how many adults and children
- Whether you want canapés, tapas or desserts
- A photo of the space, if you can
Send us the date, your venue or HA8 postcode and guest numbers, plus any dietary needs, and we will reply with a menu suggestion and a quote. To get started, use our quote form.
How our paella catering works in The Hale
There’s something generous about paella: giant pans, saffron colour and a toasted crust that everyone fights over. It makes the food an event in itself. We are frequently asked to cater staff parties and work lunches and garden get-togethers, with seafood paella, black rice and chicken and chorizo paella.
In The Hale, events range from terrace gardens to hired halls. Let us know where we can stop to unload and about any steps. All the cooking equipment comes with us, and we clear our cooking area away afterwards.

Planning the cooking area
Safety and good cooking both depend on the spot we use. We need:
- Somewhere close to park and unload
- A safe distance from anything that could catch
- Open air or a well-ventilated covered spot
As a London location, The Hale is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking takes planning: let us know about permits, bays or off-street parking.
If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Your questions about paella catering in The Hale
We’re having a ceremony at John Keble Church: can you cater afterwards?
Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall where we can cook. Live cooking usually happens at the reception venue, not the church. Tell us where the reception will be.
Which station should guests use for The Hale?
Mill Hill Broadway station, about 0.7 miles south-east of the centre.
How long do you need on site?
We get there in good time to set up. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, and we time it to your schedule.
How do you work out quantities?
We plan quantities from your guest numbers, timings and other courses, with a little extra built in. Accurate numbers help.
How many different paellas?
Two or three covers most guests. We’ll recommend a mix based on diets.
Do you come to The Hale?
We do. We cook at events in The Hale and across Greater London. Tell us your date and we will check availability.
Do you cook inside?
Mostly outside or under an open cover, since the burners are gas. Some venues have suitable spaces; we’ll check with you and the venue.
Can you feed plenty of people?
It is ideal. Large pans and fast service from the pan make it well suited to crowds.
Why choose live paella in The Hale?
Cold buffets are easy but forgettable, and food can sit out for a while. Paella is cooked in front of your guests and served hot. Got a budget? Let us know, and we’ll put together a menu that fits. Even a simple menu can be a feast.

Dietary needs and planning tips
With a little notice, every diet is easy. Our advice:
- Flag any coeliac guests, not just gluten-free preferences
- Plan a meat, a seafood and a vegetable or vegan pan
- Tell us how many children are coming
- Ask about diets and allergies on your invitation or RSVP
If you’ve booked staff, they’ll serve, clear and help keep things moving, so you can relax.
We can add sangria and bar staff for your own drinks.
A closer look at the menu
Mixed paella
Chicken and seafood together, for guests who want a bit of everything.
Paella Valenciana
Valencians take their paella seriously. The classic version is chicken, green beans and butter beans with saffron.
What happens on the day
We cook over gas burners in wide, shallow pans. It needs a level spot with some shelter and good ventilation, which we agree with you beforehand. Around midsummer it stays light in The Hale until about 9:20pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 3:55pm, so winter events need lighting where we cook.
- First, tell us about your event.
- We suggest paellas and extras and send a clear quote.
- Timings, access and the cooking area are agreed in advance.
- On the day, we set up and cook in front of your guests.
- It’s served straight from the pan, and we clear our area afterwards.
Before we arrive
- Choose a level spot for the cooking area
- Tell us when you want to eat
- Leave space around the cooking area
