Planning an event in Poyle?

How our paella catering works in Poyle

A couple of different pans covers everyone: a meat or mixed paella, a seafood paella and a vegetable or vegan one. Every pan is cooked on its own, so diets are easy to manage. We’re frequently asked to cater family celebrations and christenings and garden get-togethers, with black rice, vegan paella and mixed paella.

Somewhere as small as Poyle, a garden or field is frequently the venue. Tell us about narrow lanes or long drives and we will plan for them, and a firm spot near where we park makes set-up easier. We cater for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests, with each paella cooked in its own pan.

Poyle questions

Can you cater a reception after a service at Church of St Thomas?

Yes, at a garden, marquee or venue nearby with a suitable spot to cook. Live cooking usually happens at the reception venue, not the church. Tell us where the reception will be.

Could we have live paella in Arthur Jacob Nature Reserve?

Only if the landowner, generally the council, allows it. Check with them, and we’ll provide our paperwork.

Can you cook indoors?

Normally we cook outdoors or under a ventilated cover, since the burners are gas. Some venues have suitable spaces; we will check with you and the venue.

Is the paella gluten-free?

We can cook a gluten-free paella in its own pan. Let us know about coeliac guests in advance so we can plan it carefully.

Do you cover Poyle?

Yes. We cover London and the South East, and Poyle is within our area. To check your date, send us your details through our quote form.

Can you supply plates?

If you need them, yes. Proper crockery or quality disposables can be added to your booking.

Can we choose the seafood?

Tell us your preferences and we’ll suggest seafood options to suit your menu and budget. Premium options are available.

Is paella enough as a main?

It can be. Paella with bread and salad makes a full main course, and tapas or dessert can be added.

Dietary needs and planning tips

We cater for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests. To make it work smoothly:

  • Let us know if anyone has coeliac disease
  • Tell us what else is being served
  • Ask for labels on each pan
  • Ask about diets and allergies on your invitation or RSVP

You shouldn’t have to worry about the food on the day. We set up, cook and serve, and keep in touch with you or your venue about timings.

Need plates or staff? We can provide them.

Why choose live paella in Poyle?

Cold buffets are easy but forgettable, and the food sits out. Paella is cooked in front of your guests and served hot. Live paella pricing depends on the event. A garden party lunch and a full wedding menu are very different jobs. We itemise everything in your quote.

Dishes our guests love

Vegetable and vegan paella

The vegetable pan is a dish in its own right: peppers, artichokes and beans with saffron.

Paella Valenciana

Valencians take their paella seriously. The traditional pan has chicken, flat green beans and butter beans, and it’s a crowd-pleaser.

Should I cook it myself?

You can cook paella for a crowd yourself, but it takes practice. A big pan needs a burner that heats it evenly, and getting the rice right at scale is tricky. Our guide to cooking paella for a crowd explains how.

DIY catering keeps costs down, but the host spends the party cooking. With live paella catering, you get the theatre without the work.

For guests coming by train, the nearest station is Heathrow Terminal 5 Rail station, about 1.2 miles south-east. Thinking of a picnic-style party in Arthur Jacob Nature Reserve? Public parks generally need permission from the council or landowner for cooking, so check first.

What happens on the day

Service is quick: we serve straight from the pan, so even a long queue moves. When service is finished, we pack down. Around midsummer it stays light in Poyle until about 9:20pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 3:55pm, so winter events need lighting where we cook.

  1. Get in touch with the basics: when, where and how many.
  2. We come back with paellas to suit your guests, plus any extras.
  3. A week or so before, we confirm the plan.
  4. We set up, cook from scratch and keep an eye on your timings.
  5. Guests are served from the pan, and our area is cleared afterwards.

Before we arrive

  • Give us your final numbers and diets
  • Give us a contact for the day
  • Share the running order, including any speeches

  • A level, firm spot for the burners and pans
