Planning an event in Sunnymeads?
How our paella catering works in Sunnymeads
Paella is generous food: big pans, bright colours and a crispy base everyone wants a spoonful of. It makes the food an event in itself. We’re often asked to cater garden parties and summer barbecues and weddings, from canapés to evening food, with vegan paella, mixed paella and paella Valenciana.
In a rural place like Sunnymeads, the setting does plenty of the work: a huge pan in a garden or field fits perfectly. Tell us about access and the ground. All the cooking equipment comes with us, and we clear our cooking area away afterwards.
Should I cook it myself?
Not sure whether to cook yourself or book a caterer? Consider your numbers, your guests’ diets and your own time. Ask us for a quote and compare.
Doing it yourself saves money, but the host ends up stuck at the stove. With live paella catering, you get the theatre without the work.
Dietary needs and planning tips
Few dishes handle mixed diets as well as paella, because each paella is cooked in its own pan. Here are a few tips for planning:
- Pick a mix of paellas to cover every diet
- Give us separate numbers for children
- Request clear labels at the serving table
- Add a dietary question to your invitations
Let the paella rest for a few minutes before serving, which is when we generally call guests over.
Finish with churros, crema catalana or tarta de Santiago, or serve your own cake.
How it works
On the day, we set up our cooking area, light the burners and start the sofrito. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, so we time everything to your schedule. In Sunnymeads, the sun sets at about 9:25pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. In December it is dark by about 3:55pm, so winter events need lighting where we cook.

Vegetable and vegan paella
Seasonal vegetables on a rich sofrito base make a proper main dish. For vegans, the stock is plant-based.
Black rice
Black rice looks dramatic and tastes of the sea, and is popular with adventurous guests.
