Paella catering near Farnham Royal
Can I cook paella for a crowd myself?
A DIY paella party works for small groups. For larger numbers, mixed diets or a wedding, a caterer takes the pressure off, and keeps vegetarian and allergy-safe pans separate.
If you do cook yourself, test the pan and burner together beforehand, have hot stock ready, and leave the rice alone once it’s in. Keep a clear zone around the burner.
Paella catering in Farnham Royal, cooked live
A single cooking set-up can feed a crowd, there’s very little waste, and the food arrives hot. That’s why it works for so many events. Popular choices include paella Valenciana, vegetable paella and black rice, and we are regularly asked to cater summer garden parties and weddings and evening receptions.
In a hamlet or village like Farnham Royal, your own garden or a neighbour’s field can make a wonderful venue. Mention gates and soft ground when you contact us. You will know exactly what’s included before booking: the menu, the staff and any extras, with no surprises on the day.
Organising for someone else?
Events in public spaces, like parks, usually need permission. We’ll provide any information the landowner or council asks for.
For big numbers, we plan pans and serving points to keep queues short, so guests are fed quickly. Let us know how long the food break is.
About the dishes
Mixed paella
A mix of chicken and seafood, for guests who want a bit of everything.
Vegetable and vegan paella
Seasonal vegetables on a rich sofrito base make a proper main dish. Vegan versions use plant-based stock.
Prices and what affects them
The same guest numbers can mean different prices, because of:
- Your choice of paellas
- How long we’re needed on site
- Starters, canapés and desserts
- The number of people
Extras such as tapas, desserts, sangria, staff and crockery are priced separately, so you only pay for what you want.
What we need to know
You do not need everything decided to ask for a quote, but it helps to know:
- Whether the venue has crockery or staff
- Approximate guest numbers, including children
- Where the event is
- Any dietary needs and allergies
Send us the date, your venue or SL2 postcode and guest numbers, along with any dietary needs, and we will reply with a menu suggestion and a quote. To get started, fill in our quote form.
Diets, allergies and planning
Paella is one of the easiest dishes for mixed diets, because every paella has its own pan. Here are a few tips for planning:
- Plan a meat, a seafood and a vegetable or vegan pan
- Make sure most guests can sit to eat
- Send allergies to us in writing
- Ask for labels on each pan
Let the paella rest for a few minutes before serving, which is when we generally call guests over.
Sangria and bar staff can be added for your own drinks.
How it works
The paella is cooked in huge, shallow pans over gas burners. We need a level, ventilated spot, and we agree where that is before the day. Around midsummer it stays light in Farnham Royal until about 9:25pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 3:55pm, so winter events need lighting where we cook.
- It starts with your date, venue, numbers and any dietary needs.
- You get a suggested menu and an itemised quote.
- On the day we arrive in good time, set up and start the stock.
- The rice cooks in full view, while tapas or canapés go round.
- We serve from the pan, then clear our cooking area away.
Preparing for the day
- Make sure we can park close by to unload
- Keep the cooking spot clear of fences, hedges and branches
- Name one person we can ask on the day

Is live paella right for your event?
Compared with a hog roast or barbecue, live paella is easier for vegetarian, vegan and halal guests, because each paella has its own pan. It is served quickly from the pan, so queues move. There’s no one-size-fits-all price for live paella. A garden party lunch and a full wedding menu are very different jobs. We itemise everything in your quote.
