Live wedding paella catering in The City

Questions from The City

Do you come out to small places like The City?

No, we cook in small places too. Let us know about access and parking.

We’re having a ceremony at Church of St Paul: can you cater afterwards?

Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall where we can cook. Churches rarely have space for live cooking, so the meal is usually elsewhere. Send us the reception address.

When do you arrive?

That depends on your menu and numbers. We will agree arrival, cooking and serving times with you so the paella is ready when you want it.

How much paella per person?

Quantities depend on numbers, timing and courses, with a little extra built in. Give us accurate numbers for the best result.

How soon do we need to book?

As early as you can, especially for summer weekends. Even if it is short notice, it is worth asking.

Can we try the food first?

Mention a tasting in your enquiry, and we’ll explain how it works.

Do you do starters?

Yes. Canapés with drinks or tapas for the tables, served while the paella cooks.

Is it really cooked live?

Yes, always. Every paella is cooked from scratch on site, in front of your guests.

Wedding paella catering in The City, cooked live

Sharing from big pans suits relaxed weddings, long tables and garden or barn venues. It feels generous and celebratory. We cook evening paella, table tapas and a paella wedding breakfast, and we are regularly asked to cater vow renewals and civil ceremonies and food for evening guests.

Near The City, weddings are frequently in fields, barns or gardens. That’s exactly where live paella shines: no kitchen needed, just a level, sheltered spot. Let us know about access and ground. We cater for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests, each in a separate pan and clearly labelled.

Step by step

We arrive in good time before you want to eat, set up the cooking area and get the stock going. Your guests are welcome to watch as the paella takes shape. Golden-hour photos in The City at midsummer come around 9:25pm, which helps us time evening food around your photos. In late May, sunset is about 8:55pm, and in late September about 7:05pm.

  1. You tell us your date, venue, guest numbers and how you picture the day.
  2. We plan a menu with you, course by course, and confirm a quote.
  3. We agree timings with you and your venue, including speeches and photos.
  4. On the day we set up, cook live and serve each course as planned.
  5. We pack down our cooking area, with staff staying as long as agreed.

DIY paella versus live catering

A DIY paella party works for small groups. For larger numbers, mixed diets or a wedding, a caterer takes the pressure off, and handles separate pans for each diet.

Some hosts like to cook themselves. The usual problems are a pan too big for the burner, too much rice and stirring once the rice is in. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us cook.

For planners, venues and organisers

For big numbers, we plan pans and serving points to keep queues short, so guests are fed quickly. Let us know how long the food break is.

Hosting a party at home? Send us a photo of the garden and tell us about access, and we will tell you honestly whether live paella will work.

What affects the price in The City

The price comes down to a few factors:

  • Waiting and bar staff
  • Travel, parking and access
  • Starters, canapés and desserts
  • Plates, cutlery and glassware

The cost per head normally falls as numbers rise, since the set-up is much the same either way. Give us your numbers and we will quote.

What we need to know

Good planning starts with a few facts. Please include:

  • Approximate guest numbers, including children
  • Which courses you have in mind
  • The date and rough timings
  • What the venue already provides

Every quote is put together for your event. Give us your date and numbers, and we will confirm whether we’re available that day.

Dishes our guests love

Table tapas

Tapas set out on every table to share, from bravas to croquetas and Manchego.

Desserts

To finish: Spanish desserts or your own cake.

Choosing a paella caterer

Is live paella right for your wedding?

If you’re weighing up paella against a traditional menu, think about your venue, your guests’ diets and the feel of the day. Travel, parking and access can affect the price, so it helps to tell us about your venue. The full price is confirmed before you book.

Why The City hosts choose us

  • Fast service from the pan
  • Options for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests, each in its own pan
  • Sangria and bar staff available
  • A clear, itemised quote

Dietary needs and planning tips

Every guest is catered for, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal included. To make it work smoothly:

  • Ask whether your venue allows outside caterers
  • Include any suppliers you are feeding
  • Decide whether guests queue at the pans or are served at the tables
  • Collect dietary needs on the RSVP

Evening guests can be served from fresh pans later on, timed for after the first dance.

Finish with Spanish desserts or your cake.
