Wedding paella catering in Oare, cooked live

Evening paella is a favourite: hot, filling and served quickly from the pan, so evening guests are fed and the dancing carries on. Typical bookings include food for evening guests and rustic barn weddings, with Spanish desserts, evening paella and table tapas.

There is something special about a country wedding near Oare, and an open-air paella adds to it. Plan for access and a wet-weather cover. We cook every pan in full view of your guests, so the food is hot, fresh and part of the occasion.

Before the day, we will agree where we cook. A good spot ticks these boxes:

  • A separate open-sided gazebo if the meal is in a marquee
  • Clearance from fences, hedges, branches and anything flammable
  • Access for unloading near the cooking spot

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise.

Common questions in Oare

Can you cook in Oare Meadow?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, typically the council. Ask them first, and we will send any information they need.

Which station should guests use for Oare?

Faversham station, about 1.4 miles south-east of the centre.

How many different paellas?

Most events have two or three: a meat or mixed paella, a seafood paella and a vegetable or vegan one. We’ll suggest a split based on your guests.

Can you supply plates?

Yes, on request. Crockery, cutlery and napkins, or good-quality disposables can be added to your booking.

What about supplier meals?

Just add them to your numbers. Let us know when they need feeding.

Do you work with our venue?

Yes. We will speak to your venue about access and timings.

Is paella too casual for a wedding?

With the right presentation, it feels special: canapés, tapas, crockery and table service.

Do you provide drinks?

Sangria can be added, and provide bar staff to serve drinks you supply.

Diets, allergies and planning

We cater for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests. To make it work smoothly:

  • Tell us about suppliers who need feeding
  • Collect dietary needs on the RSVP
  • Count day and evening guests separately
  • Share your running order, including speeches

We clear our cooking area away afterwards; any staff stay as long as agreed.

Canapé tapas with the drinks reception keep guests going during photos.

Cook it yourself or book a caterer?

You can cook paella for a crowd yourself, but it takes practice. A big pan needs a burner that heats it evenly, and getting the rice right for dozens of people takes experience. Our guide to cooking paella for a crowd explains how.

Hiring a pan and burner is one option, but you will still need to source ingredients, prep and cook for hours. A caterer handles all of that.

The process

Here’s how the day normally runs: we set up the pans and start the sofrito, the rice cooks in front of your guests, and it’s served hot from the pan when you’re ready to eat. In Oare, midsummer sunset is about 9:15pm, and by late September it is nearer 7:00pm, which means evening paella is normally served in daylight in June and July. Later in the year, plan lighting: in December it’s dark by about 3:50pm.

  1. Send us your wedding date, venue and numbers.
  2. We plan your menu course by course.
  3. We agree timings with you and your venue.
  4. On the day, we cook and serve each course.
  5. We clear our area; staff stay as booked.

Preparing for the day

  • Arrange a covered spot for wet weather
  • Let us know who to talk to on the day
  • Ensure the spot is clear of anything flammable
