DIY paella versus live catering
If you do cook yourself, test the pan and burner together beforehand, have hot stock ready, and do not stir once the rice goes in. Keep a clear zone around the burner.
Weighing up DIY against a caterer? Think about numbers, diets and how much you want to enjoy the day. We are happy to give you a quote to compare.
Wedding paella catering in Greatness, made fresh on the day
We can cater your whole wedding day or one part of it: canapé tapas with the drinks, table tapas, paella for the wedding breakfast, evening food and desserts. For spanish-themed and destination-style weddings and wedding receptions after a small ceremony, we can cook table tapas, a paella wedding breakfast and Spanish desserts for your guests.
For a smaller place like Greatness, a garden or farm wedding is often the dream. We’ll need a level spot and a way to reach it. We plan the timings around your day, whether that is speeches, a lunch break or a festival schedule.
Step by step
Once the rice is in, we do not stir it. That is what gives paella its separate grains and crispy base. The smell normally draws people over. At midsummer, sunset in Greatness is about 9:20pm, which helps us time evening food around your photos. In late May, sunset is about 8:50pm, and in late September about 7:05pm.
- You tell us your date, venue, guest numbers and how you picture the day.
- Together we plan each course and confirm the price.
- We agree timings with you and your venue, including speeches and photos.
- On the day, we set up, cook in front of your guests and serve each course.
- We pack down our cooking area, with staff staying as long as agreed.
Before we arrive
- Arrange parking near the cooking spot
- Confirm numbers and diets before the day
- Leave space around the cooking area

Is live paella right for your wedding?
Food trucks serve one order at a time, which can mean long queues at a wedding. Paella pans serve many guests quickly. Cost depends on guest numbers, the menu and the courses, along with staff, extras and travel. Every event gets its own quote.
Why us?

Prices and what affects them
Each event is quoted on its own, and the price depends on a few things:
- The paellas you choose
- How long we are needed on site
- How many courses
- How many guests are eating
Travel, parking and access can affect the price, so it helps to tell us about your venue. Everything is confirmed in writing.
What to tell us
These details help us quote quickly:
- What the venue already provides
- Diets and allergies you know about
- Expected numbers
- Which courses you have in mind
The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote: the venue, the timings, the courses you’d like and any extras. To send your details, use our quote form.

If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and we’ll say what we think.

Greatness: your questions answered
Can you cook in Montreal Park?
Only with permission from the park’s owner, usually the council. Ask them first, and we’ll send any information they need.
Can you cater a reception after a service at St John the Baptist?
Yes, at a garden, marquee or venue nearby with a suitable spot to cook. Live cooking usually happens at the reception venue, not the church. Send us the reception address.
What happens if it rains?
Rain does not stop us, as long as there is a ventilated cover. We’ll talk it through before the day.
How much does wedding paella catering cost in Greatness?
Every event is quoted individually, so you only pay for what you need. Tell us your date and numbers and we will reply with a price.
Can you do sangria?
Sangria, yes. We can also supply bar staff for your own drinks.
What if our speeches run late?
We plan for it. We time the rice to the actual running order, so it’s ready when you are.
How many different paellas?
Typically two or three, so every guest has a choice. We will recommend a mix based on diets.
Can you bring crockery?
Yes, if you need them. Tell us what your venue provides and we will include the rest in the quote.
