Running an event in Greatness

Greatness is about 1 mile north-east of Sevenoaks, in Kent. Give us the address of your event in Greatness, and we will plan access and set-up. We cater in 922 places in Kent, from the larger towns to small villages. We cook right across the region, from Greatness to London (19 miles away).

Events in parks such as Montreal Park need permission from the council or landowner, and we will send any documents they ask for. School fairs, for a school like St John's Church of England Primary School, are a natural fit for a paella stall. Within about 4 miles is the Kent Downs National Landscape, where events may have extra rules on vehicles and waste; we work to the site rules.

Festival paella catering in TN13, TN14 and TN15 is planned around your venue and timings. From Seal Road, Mill Lane and Sandy Lane or anywhere nearby, we can cook there. Nearby, we also cater events in Seal (1 mile east), Godden Green (2 miles south-east), Styants Bottom (3 miles east), Bitchet Green (3 miles south-east) and Stone Street (3 miles south-east). We also cook in nearby towns such as Maidstone (14 miles east), Dartford (11 miles north), Royal Tunbridge Wells (11 miles south), Gravesend (12 miles north-east), Tonbridge (7 miles south-east) and Northfleet (12 miles north-east).

Greatness questions

Can you cook at venues in the Kent Downs National Landscape?

Yes, though some venues in protected landscapes have extra rules; ask your venue. We will follow the site rules.

Can you run a stall at a school fair in Greatness?

Yes, if the school is happy for us to cook on site. Send us the date, pitch and expected numbers.

Is halal food available?

Yes, we do. We use halal chicken and leave out pork and alcohol, in its own pan.

Where do you cater?

We cater across London and the South East, including Kent. See all areas.

How many paellas should we have?

Two or three is usual: a meat or mixed paella, a seafood paella and a vegetable or vegan one. We will suggest a split based on your guests.

Can you cater for children?

Children are welcome. Tell us how many and roughly how old, and we will plan a pan with them in mind.

When do you arrive?

We arrive well before serving to set up and start the stock. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, timed around your event.

How much is live paella catering?

Every event is quoted individually, so you only pay for what you need. Give us your date, numbers and menu ideas for a clear quote.

Dietary needs and planning tips

Dietary needs are easy to plan for with a little notice. We suggest:

  • Give traders a single information pack
  • Ask traders about packaging and waste
  • Put picnic tables near the traders
  • Schedule crew meals

Allergen details are available at the stall.

Extra pans for busy periods.

The process

Watching it cook is half the fun. We start with the sofrito, add the stock and saffron, then spread the rice across the pan and leave it alone to cook while your guests chat. At midsummer, events in Greatness stay light until about 9:20pm, so evening trading usually finishes in daylight in high summer. For winter markets, dark by about 3:55pm, the pitch needs lighting.

  1. Tell us about the event, the crowd and the pitch.
  2. We reply with our menu, prices for visitors and requirements.
  3. We send the documents the event asks for.
  4. On the day, the pans are on before the busiest hours.
  5. At close, we pack down and tidy up.
