Forest Side weddings: local tips
Forest Side is about 1 mile north-west of Newport, in the Isle of Wight. We cook at weddings in homes, gardens and venues in Forest Side and nearby villages. We cover all 125 towns and villages in the Isle of Wight. Our events stretch from Forest Side to Southampton (15 miles away).
Historic houses near Forest Side include Carisbrooke Castle (1.3 miles south) and Swainston Manor (2.7 miles south-west). If your reception is at a historic house or estate, ask early about its rules on caterers and live cooking. Couples marrying at local churches such as St. Mary's Church frequently hold the reception nearby: the paella can be cooking while you have photos taken, so it is ready as guests arrive. The sea is within about 4 miles, perfect for a seafood paella wedding. Coastal wind needs a sheltered cooking spot.

Events we cater in Forest Side
Sharing food gets tables chatting, which suits a relaxed wedding.
Live paella works for big and small events alike. Typical bookings include:
- Big weddings with every diet
- Relaxed sharing-style wedding breakfasts
- Wedding receptions after a small ceremony

Planning photos in Seaclose Park? It is worth checking the park’s rules first.
What your quote should include
- How long the team stays
- The wet-weather plan
- When final numbers are due
- The venue requirements
Catering for every guest
Good planning keeps every guest safe and happy. Try these:
- Send us the running order and speech times
- Add a dietary question to your RSVP cards
- Let us know about meals for your band or photographer
- Introduce us to your venue coordinator
Fresh pans can be cooked for evening guests, usually timed after the first dance.
Spanish desserts, or your own wedding cake, finish the meal.
Space, weather and the venue
We cook in large pans over gas burners, so the cooking area needs a little planning. These are the things we check:
- A cooking spot outside the marquee, not inside it
- Open air or a well-ventilated covered spot
- Clearance from fences, hedges, branches and anything flammable
Forest Side is a more remote spot, so tell us early and we will plan the journey.
If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and we will say what we think before you book.

What affects the price in Forest Side
Live paella pricing is straightforward once we know the basics:
- How many guests are eating
- Crockery and cutlery, or disposables
- Travel, parking and access
- How many courses
Premium seafood costs more than chicken or vegetables, so your choice of paellas affects the total. We’ll suggest options to suit your budget.
Getting an accurate quote
To speed things up, tell us:
- Expected numbers
- The address or venue name
- Diets and allergies you know about
- Which courses you have in mind
A detailed enquiry gets a more accurate quote: venue, timings, courses and extras. When you’re ready, use our quote form.
Step by step
When we arrive, we set up the burners and pans and start cooking the sofrito and stock. The rice goes in about 20 minutes before serving, so we time everything to your schedule. For a summer wedding in Forest Side, the sun sets at about 9:20pm in late June and about 7:10pm in late September, so an evening paella for evening guests is typically served in daylight in high summer. Later in the year, plan lighting: in December it is dark by about 4:00pm.
- You tell us your date, venue, guest numbers and how you picture the day.
- Together we plan each course and confirm the price.
- Timings are agreed with you and the venue, around speeches and photos.
- We cook live on the day and serve every course on cue.
- Afterwards we clear our area; any staff you’ve booked stay as planned.
Getting ready for the day
- Leave space around the cooking area
- Make sure we can park close by to unload
- Send us final numbers and dietary needs in good time

FAQs for Forest Side
Can you cook near the sea around Forest Side?
Yes, with a sheltered cooking spot. Wind is the main issue on the coast, so we plan shelter.
We’re having a ceremony at St. Mary's Church: can you cater afterwards?
Yes, at a garden, marquee or venue nearby with a suitable spot to cook. Live cooking usually happens at the reception venue, not the church. Tell us where the reception will be.
What about pudding?
We can add a dessert. Tell us what you have in mind in your enquiry.
What do you need at the venue?
Not a lot: a flat spot away from anything flammable, with space to serve. Send us a photo if you are not sure.
Is halal food available?
We can. Let us know your halal numbers, and we will cook a separate pan.
When should we book?
Early, particularly for summer Saturdays. Even if it’s short notice, it is worth asking.
Do you take everything away?
We clear our cooking area away when service is finished. Waiting staff can clear tables if you book them.
Do you cater in Forest Side?
Yes. We cater across London and the South East, including Forest Side and the rest of the Isle of Wight. For a quote, use our quote form.
