How our wedding paella catering works in Angel
A paella wedding makes mixed diets simple: every paella is cooked separately, so vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests eat the same kind of meal as everyone else. We’re often asked to cater vow renewals and civil ceremonies and evening food for extra guests, serving canapé tapas, table tapas and Spanish desserts.
For a wedding in Angel, think about how guests travel between ceremony and reception. Paella can be cooking while they’re on the move, so it’s ready when they arrive. We serve straight from the pan, so every plate is hot, and a queue moves quickly.

What else we do in Angel
Planning the cooking area
Live paella is cooked over gas burners in large pans, so we need a suitable spot. Here’s what we look for:
- Level ground for the pans and burners
- An open-sided catering gazebo next to the marquee
- Good ventilation: outdoors, or an open-sided cover
Angel is in London, within the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking can be tight: let us know about permits, bays or off-street parking.
If you’re unsure, send a photo of the space and we’ll say what we think before you book.

What happens on the day
When we arrive, we set up the burners and pans and start cooking the sofrito and stock. The rice goes in about 20 minutes before serving, so we time everything to your schedule. Golden-hour photos in Angel at midsummer come around 9:20pm, which helps us time evening food around your photos. Sunset is around 8:50pm in late May and 7:05pm in late September.

Why choose live paella in Angel?
Buffets can mean food sitting for a while. Paella is served hot from the pan when guests are ready. Larger events normally cost less per head, because the cooking set-up is similar for different sizes of event. Give us your numbers and we’ll quote.
Why Angel hosts choose us

- Waiting staff and crockery on request
- Everything cooked fresh at your event

What affects the price in Angel
Every event is priced individually, and the price depends on a few things:
- Staff: cooks, waiting staff and bar staff
- Guest numbers
- Distance and access to the venue
- Timings and hours
There’s no one-size-fits-all price for live paella. A garden party lunch and a full wedding menu are very different jobs. We itemise everything in your quote.
What to tell us
Good planning starts with a few facts. Please include:
- Which courses you have in mind
- Any dietary needs and allergies
- Whether the venue has crockery or staff
- Approximate guest numbers, including children
We need only a few details to quote: the date, where the event is, how many guests and any dietary needs. You can send us your details through our quote form.
Working with your venue
Many venues have rules for outside caterers: cooking areas, access times and documents. Tell us what your venue needs and we’ll work to it.
If your event is in a public space, such as a park, check what permission you need first. We’ll provide any information the landowner or council asks for.
Diets, allergies and planning
Few dishes handle mixed diets as well as paella, because each paella is cooked in its own pan. Here are a few tips for planning:
- Choose pan-side or table service
- Give us separate day and evening numbers
- Share your running order, including speeches
- Enquire early for peak dates
We normally set up where guests can watch, which makes a lovely backdrop for photos.
Add sangria, or bar staff to serve your own drinks.
Cook it yourself or book a caterer?
Weighing up DIY against a caterer? Think about numbers, diets and how much you want to enjoy the day. Ask us for a quote and compare.
Cooking paella for a crowd yourself is possible, but it is harder than it looks. A big pan needs a burner that heats it evenly, and getting the rice right for dozens of people takes experience. Read how to cook paella for a crowd.
