Paella catering around Angel

If you’re celebrating after a service at a church like St Mark's Church, live paella at a garden or venue nearby works well. Parks such as Barnard Park generally need the owner’s permission for cooking, so ask before you plan a party there.

Here we cover the N1, N1P and EC1V postcode area, so your event can be anywhere in it. From City Road, Noel Road and Dewey Road or anywhere nearby, we will bring the pans to you. Planning for every diet

Good planning keeps every guest safe and happy. Try these:

  • Choose two or three paellas so every guest has a choice
  • Plan seating for most guests: paella is easiest eaten sitting down
  • Tell us about coeliac guests specifically
  • Request clear labels at the serving table

You shouldn’t have to worry about the food on the day. We set up, cook and serve, and stay in touch with your venue about timings.

We can add sangria and bar staff to serve drinks you provide.

Why choose live paella in Angel?

Plated meals need a kitchen and a bigger team. Live paella needs a level, ventilated spot and the venue’s permission to cook, and it is entertaining too. Comparing caterers? Look at what each quote includes: staff, crockery, sides, travel and VAT. We itemise ours.

For planners, venues and organisers

For repeat events, such as annual staff parties or seasonal fairs, let us know your dates early, so we can hold the date.

If you are planning an event on someone’s behalf, whether you are a planner, an office manager or an event organiser, we’re happy to deal with you and the venue directly. It saves passing messages back and forth.

How it works

We cook over gas burners in wide, shallow pans. We need a level, ventilated spot, and we agree where that is before the day. In Angel, the sun sets at about 9:20pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. For winter events, when it is dark by about 3:55pm, we need lighting at the cooking spot.

  1. Send us your date, numbers and venue.
  2. We plan the menu with you, including every diet.
  3. We arrive early to set up the burners and pans.
  4. The paella cooks as guests gather round.
  5. Service is straight from the pan, then we pack down.

Preparing for the day

  • Send us final numbers and dietary needs in good time
  • Tell us when you want to eat
  • Ensure the spot is clear of anything flammable

Planning help

Cook it yourself or book a caterer?

You can hire equipment and do it yourself, but you will still need to source ingredients, prep and cook for hours. We take care of all of it.

For a small group, cooking yourself can work well. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, and handles separate pans for each diet.

Where we can cook in Angel

No two venues are the same, so we ask about the space before we confirm. In general, we need:

  • Space well away from trees, fences and gazebo walls
  • The venue’s permission for live cooking
  • Level ground for the pans and burners

Angel is in London, within the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking can be tight: let us know about permits, bays or off-street parking.

Not sure about your space? Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Angel: your questions answered

What’s the nearest station to Angel for guests?

London Kings Cross station, about 0.7 miles west of the centre.

What about parking in Angel?

London parking needs planning: let us know about permits or off-street space. We will work around it.

Can you do gluten-free paella?

Yes, on request. The rice is gluten-free, but stocks and chorizo can contain gluten, so we cook a gluten-free paella separately.

How long does the paella take?

We get there in good time to set up. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, and we time it to your schedule.

Do you cater for vegetarian guests?

Yes, and they’re popular with everyone. They have their own pans, stock and spoons.

Do you clear up afterwards?

We clear our cooking area away when service is finished. Clearing guests’ plates and tables can be added with waiting staff.

How do you work out quantities?

Quantities depend on numbers, timing and courses, with a little extra built in. Give us accurate numbers for the best result.

Which paellas suit our guests?

Two or three is usual: a mixed or chicken paella, a seafood paella and a vegetable or vegan one. Our menu lists the options.

What affects the price in Angel

The same guest numbers can mean different prices, because of:

  • Guest numbers
  • How many courses
  • Plates, cutlery and glassware
  • The length of service

The cost per head typically falls as numbers rise, because the cooking set-up is similar for different sizes of event. Tell us your numbers for an accurate price.

Details that help

You do not need every detail fixed to get a quote, but it helps to know:

  • Roughly how many adults and children
  • Your date and when you want to eat
  • Any dietary needs and allergies
  • Anything your venue supplies

A detailed enquiry gets a more accurate quote: the venue, the timings, the courses you’d like and any extras. To send your details, send us your details through our quote form.
