How our tapas catering works in Whitmoor Vale
Canapé tapas suit standing receptions; for seated meals, table tapas. Lots of events do both. Popular choices include Manchego with membrillo, gambas al ajillo and patatas bravas, and typical bookings are for tapas before paella and anniversary parties.
In a rural spot like Whitmoor Vale, tapas can be served in a garden, barn or marquee. Everything is cooked from scratch at your event, never made in advance and reheated, and served the moment it’s ready.

Live paella or other catering?
Crisps and nibbles fill a gap. Tapas are a real course. Seafood and premium ingredients cost more than chicken or vegetable paellas, so the menu you choose affects the price. Tell us your budget and we will suggest a menu.

Step by step
When we arrive, we set up our cooking area, light the burners and start the sofrito. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, so we time everything to your schedule. At midsummer, it is light in Whitmoor Vale until about 9:20pm, perfect for canapés outdoors. In late September, sunset is about 7:05pm; winter receptions, dark by 4:00pm, are better indoors.

Can I cook paella for a crowd myself?
If you do cook yourself, test the pan and burner together beforehand, keep the stock hot, and do not stir once the rice goes in. And keep children and pets well away from the burner.
Some hosts like to cook themselves. Common mistakes are mismatched pans and burners, overfilling and stirring. If you’d rather be with your guests, we’ll do the cooking.
Before you choose a spot
Most gardens and venues can host live paella, but a few things matter:
- Room on tables for sharing dishes
- A suitable spot to finish hot tapas
- A spot for our serving station
If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise before you book.

FAQs for Whitmoor Vale
We are having a ceremony at Church of St Luke: can you cater afterwards?
Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall where we can cook. Churches rarely have space for live cooking, so the meal is normally elsewhere. Tell us where the reception will be.
Can you cook at venues in the Surrey Hills National Landscape?
Yes. Some venues there have rules about vehicles, ground and cooking, so check with yours. We will work to whatever the site needs.
When should we book?
As soon as you have a date. Peak dates go quickly, so contact us early.
Do you cook inside?
Only in a suitable, well-ventilated area with the venue’s permission. Most events have us cooking outside or in a doorway or courtyard.
Can you cook in the rain?
A covered, ventilated spot keeps us cooking in the rain. We will talk it through before the day.
Do you do vegan paella?
Of course. We cook vegetarian and vegan paellas in their own pans.
Can we have tapas without paella?
Yes. Tapas can be booked without paella.
Do you do starters?
Yes. Canapé tapas with the drinks, or table tapas to share, while the rice is cooking.
