How our tapas catering works in Three Chimneys

Many classic tapas are naturally vegetarian, like tortilla and padrón peppers, and some can be gluten-free. We’re often asked to cater canapés with welcome drinks and receptions and drinks parties, with gambas al ajillo, padrón peppers and patatas bravas.

Near Three Chimneys, tapas suit gardens, barns and marquees. The paella is served straight from the pan, so every plate is hot, and a queue moves quickly.

Should I cook it myself?

You can cook paella for a crowd yourself, but it takes practice. Large pans need the right burners, and getting the rice right for dozens of people takes experience. Our guide to cooking paella for a crowd explains how.

Doing it yourself saves money, but the host ends up stuck at the stove. With live paella catering, you get the theatre without the work.

How far is Three Chimneys from London?

About 40 miles from central London, and well within our area.

How many paellas should we have?

Two or three is usual: a meat or mixed paella, a seafood paella and a vegetable or vegan one. We’ll suggest a split based on your guests.

That depends on your menu and numbers. We will agree arrival, cooking and serving times with you.

Can you do sangria?

Yes, sangria. For other drinks, we can provide bar staff to serve what you buy.

What does tapas catering cost?

Every event is quoted individually, based on what you actually want. Give us your date, numbers and menu ideas for a clear quote.

Do you provide plates and cutlery?

Yes, on request. Crockery, cutlery and napkins, or good-quality disposables can be added to your booking.

How it works

On the day, we set up the burners and pans and start cooking the sofrito and stock. The rice goes in about 20 minutes before serving, so the timing is planned around your event. At midsummer, it is light in Three Chimneys until about 9:15pm, perfect for canapés outdoors. By late September it’s dark around 7:00pm, and in December by about 3:50pm.

  1. We check your date.
  2. You choose canapés, table tapas or both.
  3. We arrive and set up our station.
  4. Hot and cold tapas are served.
  5. We clear away at the end.

How to prepare

Paella compared with other options

For food that gets people mingling, tapas work brilliantly. Live paella pricing depends on the event. A simple paella lunch costs less than a wedding with canapés, three paellas and waiting staff. Your quote spells it all out.
