Tapas for events in Soho

Soho is about 1 mile east of City of Westminster, in Greater London. Whether your event is in the middle of Soho or on the outskirts, tapas catering works the same way: live cooking, separate pans for every diet and a clear price. Soho is one of 764 places in Greater London where we cook.

A picnic in St Anne's Churchyard? Check the park’s rules first; a garden or hired venue is often easier for catering. After a ceremony at a church such as St Anne's Church, canapé tapas with the drinks keep guests happy during photos.

Anywhere in W1F, W1T and W1D, we can cook for your guests. That could mean an event in a garden on Duck Lane, Drury Lane and Bridle Lane or the roads around them. Soho is on the A4 and A301, which makes it straightforward to bring the equipment. For events just outside Soho, we cover West End (1 mile east), Chinatown (1 mile south), Seven Dials (1 mile east), St Giles (1 mile north-east) and St James's (1 mile south). We also cook in nearby towns such as Kensington (3 miles west), Walthamstow (7 miles north-east), Whitechapel (3 miles east), Hampstead (3 miles north-west), Ruislip (13 miles west) and Stockwell (3 miles south).

Nearby you will also find Montfichet's Tower (1.3 miles east) and Westminster St James (within half a mile south-west). The countryside around Soho includes St. James's Park Lake and Ludgate Hill.

  • Nearby schools include LITE Regal International School (0.6 miles west) and Harris Westminster Sixth Form (0.9 miles south)
  • Local pubs include Bar Soho (less than half a mile north)
  • Local facilities include London Library (0.5 miles south-west)

For event organisers in Soho

Events in public spaces, like parks, typically need permission. We can send whatever the landowner or council needs from us.

If you run the same event each year, tell us your dates early, so we can hold the date.

What tapas catering costs

Live paella pricing is straightforward once we know the basics:

  • The paellas you choose
  • The number of people
  • Extra courses such as canapés, tapas and dessert
  • Staff: cooks, waiting staff and bar staff

Extras such as tapas, desserts, sangria, staff and crockery are priced separately, so you only pay for what you want.

What we need to know

Good planning starts with a few facts. Please include:

  • The date and time of the event
  • Expected numbers
  • The courses you’d like
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal and allergy numbers

It’s easy to get a price: share your date, venue, numbers and diets. We’ll send a clear, itemised quote and a suggested menu.

Questions from Soho

We are having a ceremony at St Anne's Church: can you cater afterwards?

Yes, at a garden, marquee or venue nearby with a suitable spot to cook. Live cooking generally happens at the reception venue, not the church. Tell us where the reception will be.

Could we have live paella in St Anne's Churchyard?

Only if the landowner, normally the council, allows it. Check with them, and we will provide our paperwork.

Who clears up?

Our cooking area is packed away and left clean. Table clearing is available with waiting staff.

How long does the paella take?

We get there in good time to set up. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, and we time it to your schedule.

How many different paellas?

Typically two or three, so every guest has a choice. We’ll recommend a mix based on diets.

Are your tapas vegetarian-friendly?

Lots. Tortilla, patatas bravas, padrón peppers and Manchego are vegetarian classics.

Is tapas catering available separately?

Yes, tapas work on their own, for receptions, parties and evening food.

Can you do gluten-free paella?

A gluten-free pan is no problem. Let us know about coeliac guests in advance so we take the right care.

What we need at the venue

If a space is not suitable, we’ll tell you. The main points are:

  • A suitable spot to finish hot tapas
  • Room for a tapas table
  • Table space for sharing dishes at seated meals

Soho is in London, within the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking can be tight: tell us about parking bays, permits or a driveway.

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we’ll advise before booking.

Why choose tapas catering in Soho?

Tapas are sociable food.

Big or small, live paella works well. Common bookings include:

  • Drinks parties and receptions
  • Birthday drinks
  • Sharing tapas starters
  • Office parties and launches

Historic houses near Soho include Benjamin Franklin House (0.5 miles south-east) and Burlington House (0.5 miles south-west). Where a historic venue does not allow live cooking, canapé tapas may still be possible; ask the venue.

How to compare caterers

How the day works

Serving is fast: we serve straight from the pan, so large groups are fed quickly. Afterwards we clear our cooking area away. Sunset in Soho is around 9:20pm in June, so canapés can go round outdoors on a summer evening.

  1. We check your date.
  2. You choose canapés, table tapas or both.
  3. We arrive and set up our station.
  4. Hot and cold tapas are served.
  5. Afterwards, we clear up.

Getting ready for the day

  • Check the venue allows live cooking
  • Tell us where to park and unload
  • Keep the cooking spot clear of fences, hedges and branches
