Planning an event in Heronden?

Live paella or other catering?

Nibbles fill a gap. Tapas make a proper course. Live paella frequently compares well with a sit-down meal, as there’s no kitchen to hire and fewer staff to pay. Ask us for a quote.

Prices and what affects them

There is nothing hidden: the price is based on:

  • Crockery and cutlery, or disposables
  • The number of people
  • Staff: cooks, waiting staff and bar staff
  • Timings and hours

Travel, parking and access can affect the price, so tell us about the venue when you ask for a quote. Everything is confirmed in writing.

What we need to know

Good planning starts with a few facts. Try to include:

  • Whether you want canapés, tapas or desserts
  • Whether the venue has crockery or staff
  • The date and time of the event
  • The venue or postcode

Still deciding on the menu? That’s fine: give us the basics about your event, and we will make suggestions. Start when you’re ready: send us your details through our quote form.

Cook it yourself or book a caterer?

A DIY paella party works for small groups. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, and handles separate pans for each diet.

If you do cook yourself, test the pan and burner together beforehand, have hot stock ready, and don’t stir once the rice goes in. And keep children and pets well away from the burner.

Step by step

Service is quick: we serve straight from the pan, so large groups are fed quickly. Afterwards we clear our cooking area away. At midsummer, it’s light in Heronden until about 9:15pm, perfect for canapés outdoors. By late September it is dark around 7:00pm, and in December by about 3:50pm.

  1. Tell us the date, venue and numbers.
  2. We suggest a selection and a quote.
  3. We set up and finish hot tapas on site.
  4. Canapés go round or tapas go to the tables.
  5. We pack down when service ends.

Diets, allergies and planning

Paella is one of the easiest dishes for mixed diets, because each paella is cooked in its own pan. A few tips:

  • Ask guests about diets and allergies
  • Book staff to carry canapés round
  • Add sangria or cava
  • Allow more variety if tapas are the whole meal

Hot dishes are finished on site.

Sandwich station, about 3.1 miles north-east of the centre.

Indoors only where ventilation and the venue allow it. Most events have us cooking outside or in a doorway or courtyard.
