Your questions about tapas catering in Down Street

Is Down Street too small for live paella?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Let us know about access and parking.

Do you cater in the High Weald National Landscape?

Yes. Some venues there have rules about vehicles, ground and cooking, so check with yours. We’ll work to whatever the site needs.

What does tapas catering cost?

It depends on guest numbers, the menu, the courses, staff and travel. Send us the details for a quote.

Is tapas catering available separately?

Absolutely.

How many different paellas?

Normally two or three, so every guest has a choice. We will recommend a mix based on diets.

Do you provide serving staff?

Yes, if you want them. Canapés need staff to carry them round.

Do you cater in Down Street?

Yes, we do. We cook at events in Down Street and across East Sussex. Tell us your date and we’ll check availability.

Are there vegetarian tapas?

Lots. Tortilla, bravas and Manchego are popular vegetarian choices.

Dishes our guests love

Tortilla española

A thick potato and egg omelette served in wedges or squares.

Gambas al ajillo

A favourite with seafood lovers.

Why choose tapas catering in Down Street?

Big or small, tapas work.

  • Anniversary parties

What to look for in a quote

  • Exactly what’s included in the price
  • Any travel, parking or access charges
  • How many staff are coming, and for how long
  • Whether VAT is included

How to compare caterers

Diets, allergies and planning

A little planning makes sure everyone can eat. Try these:

  • Label seafood clearly
  • Pair tapas with sangria, cava or sherry
  • Canapés need staff to serve
  • Label vegetarian and allergen-free dishes

We clear our equipment when service ends.

Sangria and bar staff.

DIY paella versus live catering

Doing it yourself saves money, but the host ends up stuck at the stove. Booking us means you get the show without the stress.

For a small group, cooking yourself can work well. For larger numbers, mixed diets or a wedding, a caterer takes the pressure off, and keeps vegetarian and allergy-safe pans separate.

Prices and what affects them

Your quote will be clear and itemised. What affects it most:

  • The paellas you choose
  • How many courses
  • Plates, cutlery and glassware
  • The length of service

Cost depends on guest numbers, the menu and the courses, along with staff, extras and travel. We quote for each event individually.

What we need to know

When you get in touch, it helps to tell us:

  • The venue or postcode
  • The date and time of the event
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal and allergy numbers
  • Whether the venue has crockery or staff

Send us the date, your venue or TN22 postcode and guest numbers, along with any dietary needs, and you’ll get a menu idea and a price. To get started, send us your details through our quote form.

What happens on the day

When we arrive, we set up our cooking area, light the burners and start the sofrito. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, so we time everything to your schedule. A summer drinks reception in Down Street has daylight until about 9:20pm at midsummer, perfect for canapés outdoors. By late September it’s dark around 7:05pm, and in December by about 3:55pm.

  1. Send us the date, venue and numbers.
  2. We suggest a selection and a quote.
  3. We set up and finish hot tapas on site.
  4. We serve canapés or table tapas.
  5. We pack down when service ends.

Getting ready for the day

  • Get the venue’s permission for cooking
  • Have a gazebo or cover ready if rain is likely
  • Give us your final numbers and diets
