Tapas catering in Crowhurst

Tapas catering in Crowhurst, cooked live

Tapas are sharing food, made for conversation. Canapés go round while guests mingle, or table tapas go out to share. Popular choices include croquetas, patatas bravas and Manchego with membrillo, and we are often booked for evening grazing and table tapas as a starter.

In a rural spot like Crowhurst, tapas can be served in a garden, barn or marquee. Timings are planned around your event, whether that is speeches, a lunch break or a festival schedule.

Why live cooking beats a buffet

Tapas can be a starter, a reception or the whole meal, which makes them easy to plan around. The price depends on your guest numbers, the menu and how many courses you choose, along with staff, extras and travel. Every event gets its own quote.

Questions from Crowhurst

What’s the nearest station to Crowhurst for guests?

Godstone station, about 1.9 miles west of the centre.

Is Crowhurst too small for live paella?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Let us know about access and parking.

What about pudding?

Yes. Churros, crema catalana and tarta de Santiago are popular choices.

Will there be enough food?

We size the pans for your numbers and the rest of the menu. Let us know about any other food. Our guide to portions explains more.

How much space do you need?

A level space for the pans, burners and a serving table, in the open air or a ventilated covered area, and the venue’s permission for live cooking.

How many paellas should we have?

Two or three is usual: a meat or mixed paella, a seafood paella and a vegetable or vegan one. We’ll suggest a split based on your guests.

Where do you cater?

We cover London and the South East, Surrey included. See all areas.

Can we add tapas or canapés?

Of course. Canapé tapas with the drinks, or table tapas to share, while the rice is cooking.

Catering for every guest

Nearly every event has some special diets. To plan for them:

  • Include staff for canapés
  • Widen the selection for a tapas-only menu
  • Check diets in advance
  • Let us know if tapas are a starter or the main event

Tapas go out to the tables at the start of the meal.

How it works

We work to your timings. If things run behind, we adjust the cooking so it is still served fresh. At midsummer, it’s light in Crowhurst until about 9:20pm, ideal for tapas in the garden. In late September, sunset is about 7:05pm; winter receptions, dark by 3:55pm, are better indoors.

Cook it yourself or book a caterer?

A DIY paella party works for small groups. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, and handles separate pans for each diet.

DIY catering keeps costs down, but the host spends the party cooking. Booking us means you get the show without the stress.

Prices and what affects them

The price comes down to a few factors:

  • Plates, cutlery and glassware
  • Staff: cooks, waiting staff and bar staff
  • How many courses
  • Your choice of paellas

The cost per head normally falls as numbers rise, since the set-up is much the same either way. Tell us your numbers for an accurate price.

What we need to know

When you get in touch, it helps to tell us:

  • The date and rough timings
  • Expected numbers
  • Where the event is
  • Whether the venue has crockery or staff

We need only a few details to quote: the date, where the event is, how many guests and any dietary needs. To send them, send us your details through our quote form.

Planning the cooking area

Every venue is different, so we will ask about yours when you get in touch. Generally, we look for:

  • Venue approval for outside catering
  • A spot for our serving station
  • Space to finish hot dishes

Not sure about your space? Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly before booking.

For planners, venues and organisers

Many venues have rules for outside caterers: where cooking is allowed, access times and the paperwork they need. Send us your venue’s requirements and we’ll follow them.

If your event is in a public space, such as a park, check what permission you need first. We can send whatever the landowner or council needs from us.
