Paella compared with other options

A hog roast is great for meat lovers, but harder for vegetarians and vegans. Paella covers everyone with separate pans. Tapas, desserts, sangria, staff and crockery are optional extras, so you can choose exactly what you need.

How our paella party catering works in Maida Vale

A paella party takes the cooking off your hands without turning the day into a formal dinner. We set up in a corner of the garden or venue and cook while your guests chat. We’re often asked to cater garden parties and summer barbecues and christenings and naming days, serving mixed paella, chicken and chorizo paella and churros.

Most parties in Maida Vale are in back gardens, which in London can be compact. We need a level spot clear of fences and trees, and somewhere to park and unload. A picture of the garden helps. All the cooking equipment comes with us, and we clear our cooking area away afterwards.

Your questions about paella party catering in Maida Vale

Is parking a problem for events in Maida Vale?

It can be, so tell us about parking bays, permits or a driveway. We will work around it.

Which station should guests use for Maida Vale?

Kilburn High Road station, about 0.7 miles north of the centre.

What about pudding?

Yes. Churros, crema catalana and tarta de Santiago are popular choices.

Which areas do you serve?

We cater across London and the South East, Greater London included. See all areas.

Do you offer halal options?

Yes. Halal paella is cooked with halal chicken and no pork or alcohol, in its own pan.

What happens if it rains?

Rain does not stop us, as long as there’s a ventilated cover. We’ll talk it through before the day.

How much space do you need?

Less than you might think: a flat spot away from anything flammable, with space to serve. Send us a picture if you’re not sure.

Do you cook it at the event?

Yes. Every paella is cooked from scratch on site, in front of your guests.

Dietary needs and planning tips

Few dishes handle mixed diets as well as paella, because every paella has its own pan. A few tips:

  • Keep a clear zone around the cooking area
  • Plan a covered spot for wet weather
  • Plan seats for most guests
  • Give the neighbours a heads-up

When service is finished, we pack down quietly, so the party carries on.

Bread, salad and lemon wedges round off the meal.

Working with your venue

For big numbers, we plan pans and serving points to keep queues short, so everyone eats promptly. Let us know how long the food break is.

Hosting a party at home? Send a photo of the space and tell us about parking, and we will let you know if live paella is a good fit.

How we price paella party catering

Each event is quoted on its own, and the price depends on a few things:

  • The paellas you choose
  • How many courses
  • The number of people
  • Distance and access to the venue

Access and travel can make a difference to the cost, so it helps to tell us about your venue. Everything is confirmed in writing.

Details that help

The more we know about your party, the better we can plan. Please include:

  • The date and time of the event
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal and allergy numbers
  • Roughly how many adults and children
  • A picture of the cooking space, if it’s a garden or field

Tell us your date, venue or postcode and roughly how many guests, plus any dietary needs, and we’ll reply with a menu suggestion and a quote. Just fill in our quote form.

How it works

We arrive in good time before you want to eat, unload, set up the burners and prepare the stock. Your guests are welcome to watch while it cooks. At midsummer, it’s light in Maida Vale until about 9:20pm, which gives a garden party a long evening. By late September sunset is around 7:05pm, so plan festoon lights for later parties.

  1. First, we check the date and the space.
  2. You pick paellas, tapas and desserts.
  3. The burners go on and the sofrito starts.
  4. The rice goes in and your guests gather round.
  5. We serve hot and tidy our area afterwards.

Preparing for the day

  • Ensure the spot is clear of anything flammable
  • Check the venue allows live cooking
  • Name one person we can ask on the day

Should I cook it myself?

You can hire equipment and do it yourself, but you’ll still need to source ingredients, prep and cook for hours. A caterer handles all of that.

For a small group, cooking yourself can work well. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, and keeps vegetarian and allergy-safe pans separate.

Where we can cook in Maida Vale

Safety and good cooking both depend on the spot we use. We need:

  • Flat, firm ground for the cooking area
  • The venue’s permission for live cooking
  • Send a photo of the garden so we can check

As a London location, Maida Vale is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking takes planning: let us know about permits, bays or off-street parking.

If you’re unsure, send a photo of the space and we’ll say what we think before booking.
