DIY paella versus live catering
A DIY paella party works for small groups. For larger numbers, mixed diets or a wedding, a caterer takes the pressure off, and handles separate pans for each diet.
Plenty of people try cooking paella for their own party. Common mistakes are mismatched pans and burners, overfilling and stirring. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us cook.
About our paella party catering in Longstock
Most gardens can host a paella party, if there is a level spot away from fences and trees. Not sure? Send a photo. Typical bookings include family get-togethers and wakes and memorial gatherings, serving seafood paella, chicken and chorizo paella and tapas.
Near Longstock, parties are frequently in gardens or fields. Tell us about lanes and parking, and we will handle the rest. Each paella is cooked from scratch on the day, never made in advance and reheated, and served as soon as it’s ready.
Common questions in Longstock
How far is Longstock from London?
About 65 miles from central London, and well within our area.
Can you cook in Longstock Park?
Only if the landowner, generally the council, allows it. Ask them first, and we will send any information they need.
Will the neighbours notice?
Less smoke than a barbecue, more smell, and it is a good smell. Let the neighbours know.
What areas do you cover?
We cater across London and the South East, including Hampshire. See all areas.
Can you serve tapas as well?
Yes. Canapé tapas with the drinks, or table tapas to share, served while the paella cooks.
What about pudding?
Yes. Spanish desserts such as churros or crema catalana, or you can serve your own cake.
Do you clear up afterwards?
We take our equipment and leave the cooking area tidy. Table clearing is available with waiting staff.
Do you cook at halls and clubs?
Usually. We need somewhere outside or well ventilated to cook, and the venue’s permission.
Step by step
Watching it cook is half the fun. Onion, garlic, peppers and tomato go in first, then the stock and saffron, then the rice, which cooks without stirring. At midsummer, it is light in Longstock until about 9:25pm, so a garden party can run well into the evening. By late September sunset is around 7:10pm, so plan festoon lights for later parties.
