Paella party catering in Five Ashes, cooked live
A paella party takes the cooking off your hands without turning the day into a formal dinner. We set up in the garden or venue and cook as your guests chat. We’re often asked to cater christenings and naming days and street parties and neighbourhood get-togethers, with chicken and chorizo paella, seafood paella and vegetable paella.
In a small place like Five Ashes, a party in the garden or a nearby field is often the plan. Let us know about access, and we will handle the rest. Timings are planned around your event, so the paella is ready when you want to eat.

Prices and what affects them
Every event is priced individually, based on a few main things:
- Extra courses such as canapés, tapas and dessert
- Parking and unloading
- Timings and hours
- How many staff you need
Tapas, desserts, sangria, staff and crockery are optional extras, so you only pay for what you want.
Details that help
When you contact us, it helps to tell us:
- A photo of the cooking space, if it’s a garden or field
- Expected numbers
- Whether you want canapés, tapas or desserts
- Diets and allergies you know about
To get a price, use our quote form. Give us the details of your party, and we will suggest paellas and extras to suit.
Cook it yourself or book a caterer?
Weighing up DIY against a caterer? Think about numbers, diets and how much you want to enjoy the day. Ask us for a quote and compare.
Some hosts like to cook themselves. Common mistakes are mismatched pans and burners, overfilling and stirring. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us cook.
Live paella or other catering?
Compared with a barbecue, paella is served all at once, so everyone eats together. And there’s no host stuck at the grill. The cost per head typically falls as numbers rise, because the cooking set-up is similar for different sizes of event. Give us your numbers and we will quote.
What you get with us

What happens on the day
Once the rice is in, we don’t stir it. That’s what gives paella its separate grains and crispy base. Your guests will smell it before they see it. For a late-May party in Five Ashes, sunset is around 8:50pm; at midsummer it’s about 9:15pm. If the party runs past dark, we will need light where we cook and serve.
- First, we check the date and the space.
- You choose your paellas and any extras.
- We set up the burners and start the sofrito.
- In goes the rice, and guests gather.
- It’s served hot, and we clear away afterwards.
How to prepare
- Give us a contact for the day
- Get the venue’s permission for cooking
- Choose a level spot for the cooking area
