Dietary needs and planning tips

Nearly every event has some special diets. To cater well for them:

  • Put out bins for general waste and recycling
  • Have cover ready for a shower
  • Let the neighbours know
  • Give separate numbers for children

After service, we pack down, leaving you to carry on celebrating.

Plates, cutlery and waiting staff can be added.

Why live cooking beats a buffet

Cooking yourself saves money but costs you the party. With live paella, you are a guest too. The price depends on your guest numbers, the menu and how many courses you choose, plus any staff, crockery and travel. We quote for each event individually.

Why book with us

  • Catering across Greater London, including Bromley Common
  • Options for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests, each in its own pan

Where we can cook in Bromley Common

Most gardens and venues can host live paella, but there are a few things to check:

  • A photo of the garden helps us check the space
  • The venue’s permission for live cooking
  • A safe distance from anything that could catch

As a London location, Bromley Common is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking takes planning: let us know about permits, bays or off-street parking.

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we’ll advise.

The price comes down to a few factors:

  • How long we’re needed on site
  • The number of people
  • How many staff you need
  • How many courses

Live paella pricing depends on the event. A simple paella lunch costs less than a wedding with canapés, three paellas and waiting staff. We itemise everything in your quote.

What to tell us

You don’t need everything decided to ask for a quote, but these help:

  • Approximate guest numbers, including children
  • A photo of the space, if you can
  • The courses you’d like
  • The date and rough timings

Our caterer checklist

Cook it yourself or book a caterer?

Plenty of people try cooking paella for their own party. Common mistakes are mismatched pans and burners, overfilling and stirring. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us cook.

DIY catering keeps costs down, but the host spends the party cooking. With live paella catering, you get the theatre without the work.

Questions from Bromley Common

Which station should guests use for Bromley Common?

Bickley station, about 1.2 miles north of the centre.

Can you cater a reception after a service at Holy Trinity Church?

Yes, at a garden, marquee or venue nearby with a suitable spot to cook. Churches rarely have space for live cooking, so the meal is usually elsewhere. Tell us where the reception will be.

Do you bring plates and cutlery?

On request. Proper crockery or good-quality disposables can be added.

Can the paella be cooked in a hall?

Usually we cook outdoors or under a ventilated cover, because we use gas burners. We will check whether your venue has a suitable space.

How do you work out quantities?

We size the pans for your numbers and the rest of the menu. Tell us what else is being served. See how much paella per person.

Do you cook it at the event?

Yes. We cook from scratch in large pans at your venue, where your guests can watch.

What happens if it rains?

A covered, ventilated spot keeps us cooking in the rain. We’ll talk it through before the day.

Can you bring crockery?

Yes, on request. Proper crockery or quality disposables can be added to your booking.

What’s in the pans

Seafood paella

Prawns, mussels and squid in a rich stock.

Vegetable paella

A vegetable pan means vegetarians eat well.

The process

When we arrive, we set up the burners and pans and start cooking the sofrito and stock. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, so we time everything to your schedule. For a late-May party in Bromley Common, sunset is around 8:50pm; at midsummer it is about 9:20pm. If the party runs past dark, we’ll need light where we cook and serve.

  1. First, we check the date and the space.
  2. You choose your paellas and any extras.
  3. We set up the burners and start the sofrito.
  4. In goes the rice, and guests gather.
  5. We serve hot and tidy our area afterwards.

Preparing for the day
