Paella catering for your event in Yorkletts
One cooking area feeds a lot of people, there is very little waste, and the food is served hot. That is why it works for so many events. We’re often asked to cater anniversaries and engagement parties and staff parties and work lunches, serving vegan paella, paella Valenciana and vegetable paella.
Somewhere as small as Yorkletts, a garden or field is often the venue. Country lanes and long drives are no problem if we know about them, and cooking close to where we can park helps. We bring everything we need to cook, and pack down our cooking area when service is finished.
Why live cooking beats a buffet
Barbecues cook in batches, so food comes off in waves. Paella is cooked as one big dish and served together. Comparing caterers? Look at what each quote includes: staff, crockery, bread and salads, travel and VAT. Our quotes spell it all out.
Why book with us

Dishes our guests love
Vegetable and vegan paella
A vegetable paella isn’t an afterthought: peppers, artichokes and beans with saffron, cooked in its own pan.
Mixed paella
Mixed paella brings meat and seafood together.
FAQs for Yorkletts
Which station should guests use for Yorkletts?
Whitstable station, about 2.6 miles north-east of the centre.
We are having a ceremony at St Alphege: can you cater afterwards?
Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall where we can cook. Live cooking typically happens at the reception venue, not the church. Tell us where the reception will be.
Which paella is most popular?
It depends on your guests. Chicken and mixed paellas tend to go first, with seafood and vegetable pans alongside.
What if the weather’s bad?
We cook under cover, such as a gazebo, marquee or open-sided barn with good ventilation. We will agree a wet-weather plan with you.
When should we book?
As early as you can, especially for summer weekends. Ask about your date even if it’s soon.
What happens with live paella?
We arrive with pans, burners and ingredients, cook while everyone watches, and serve at the time you want.
Can you bring crockery?
Yes, on request. Proper crockery or quality disposables are available.
Can you provide dessert?
We can add a dessert. Let us know if you’d like one in your enquiry.
How the day works
We cook over gas burners in wide, shallow pans. It needs a level spot with some shelter and good ventilation, and we agree where that is before the day. Around midsummer it stays light in Yorkletts until about 9:15pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:00pm, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. For winter events, when it is dark by about 3:50pm, we need lighting at the cooking spot.
- You tell us the date, venue, guest numbers and any dietary needs.
- We put together a menu and a clear quote.
- On the day, we set up the burners and pans and get the stock going.
- The paella cooks in front of your guests, with tapas first if you’ve chosen them.
- We serve it hot from the pan and clear our area when service ends.
Preparing for the day
- Let us know the timings for the day
- Make sure we can park close by to unload
- Make sure the spot is clear of anything flammable

How we price paella catering
Every event is priced individually, and the price depends on a few things:
- Plates, cutlery and glassware

- How many courses
- Distance and access to the venue
Got a budget? Let us know, and we will put together a menu that fits. Even a simple menu can be a feast.
What to tell us
Good planning starts with a few facts. Please include:
- Approximate guest numbers, including children
- A picture of where we’d cook
- Which courses you have in mind
- What the venue already provides
We need only a few details to quote: the date, where the event is, how many guests and any dietary needs. You can use our quote form.
Why choose paella catering in Yorkletts?
It suits relaxed, sociable events, with guests mingling as it cooks and then sit down to share.
If you are planning any of these, we can help:
- Anniversary celebrations
- Garden get-togethers
- Weddings, from canapés to evening food
- Community events and fairs
Thinking of a picnic-style party in Foxes Cross Bottom? Public parks typically need permission from the council or landowner for cooking, so check first.
What your quote should include
- How many staff are coming, and for how long
- VAT, if it applies
- Whether travel is included
- What happens if it rains
Cook it yourself or book a caterer?
Cooking paella for a crowd yourself is possible, but it is harder than it looks. A big pan needs a burner that heats it evenly, and getting the rice right for dozens of people takes experience. Our guide to cooking paella for a crowd explains how.
Some hosts like to cook themselves. The usual problems are a pan too big for the burner, too much rice and stirring once the rice is in. If you’d rather be with your guests, we will do the cooking.
