Paella catering in World's End, made fresh on the day

We cook every paella from scratch on the day, beginning with a sofrito of onion, garlic, peppers and tomato, followed by stock, saffron and rice. Whether it is office lunches and staff parties and christenings and family gatherings, we’ll put together a menu of vegan paella, black rice and chicken and chorizo paella and more.

In a rural place like World's End, the setting does a lot of the work: a paella cooking in a garden or field feels right at home. Let us know about access and ground conditions. Your quote spells out exactly what’s included: menu, staff, crockery and anything else you choose.

Before you choose a spot

Before the day, we will agree where we cook. It needs to meet a few simple requirements:

  • Somewhere close to park and unload
  • Space well away from trees, fences and gazebo walls
  • Agreement from the venue or landowner to cook on site

If you’re unsure, send a photo of the space and we will say what we think.

On the menu in World's End

  • Paella Valenciana
  • Vegan paella
  • Vegetable paella
  • Black rice (arroz negro)

Cook it yourself or book a caterer?

You can cook paella for a crowd yourself, but it takes practice. Large pans need the right burners, and getting the rice right at scale is tricky. Read how to cook paella for a crowd.

Occasions we cook for in World's End

Few dishes cope with mixed diets like paella, because each version is cooked in its own pan. Nobody gets a token ‘special meal’.

If you’re planning any of these, we can help:

  • Summer garden parties
  • Anniversary celebrations
  • Festivals, fairs and school events
  • Retirement and leaving parties

School fairs and fundraisers, for a school such as Beedon C.E. (Controlled) Primary School, can book us as a food stall.

What to look for in a quote

  • The venue requirements
  • How bad weather is handled
  • Whether VAT is included
  • Who provides the crockery

12 questions to ask before booking

World's End: your questions answered

Do you cater in the North Wessex Downs National Landscape?

Yes, though some venues in protected landscapes have extra rules; ask your venue. We will follow the site rules.

Do you come out to small places like World's End?

No, we cook in small places too. Let us know about access and parking.

How much paella per person?

We plan quantities from your guest numbers, timings and other courses, with a little extra built in. Give us accurate numbers for the best result.

Do you take everything away?

Our cooking area is packed away and left clean. Table clearing is available with waiting staff.

How long does the paella take?

That depends on your menu and numbers. We will agree arrival, cooking and serving times with you.

Do you cook it at the event?

Yes, always. Every paella is cooked from scratch on site, in front of your guests.

What space do you need to cook?

Less than you might think: a flat spot away from anything flammable, with space to serve. If in doubt, send a photo.

Do you cater for coeliacs?

We can cook a gluten-free paella in its own pan. Tell us about any coeliac guests when you book so we take the right care.

For planners, venues and organisers

Venues frequently have their own rules about outside caterers: where cooking is allowed, access times and the paperwork they need. Send us your venue’s requirements and we will follow them.

If you’re organising for someone else, such as a wedding planner, an office manager or a festival organiser, we will work directly with you and the venue. It keeps things simple.

What happens on the day

When we arrive, we set up our cooking area, light the burners and start the sofrito. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, so we time everything to your schedule. In World's End, the sun sets at about 9:25pm in late June and about 7:10pm in late September, so summer evening events are normally served in daylight. For winter events, when it is dark by about 4:00pm, we need lighting at the cooking spot.

  1. Start with the date, the place and the numbers.
  2. We come back with paellas to suit your guests, plus any extras.
  3. Closer to the day, we confirm timings and the cooking spot.
  4. On the day we cook live, timed around your event.
  5. We serve, then leave our area tidy.

What paella catering costs

We will give you a clear, itemised quote. What affects it most:

  • Whether you need crockery
  • Distance and access to the venue
  • Staff: cooks, waiting staff and bar staff
  • The paellas you choose

Larger events usually cost less per head, since the set-up is much the same either way. Tell us your numbers for an accurate price.

Getting an accurate quote

When you contact us, it helps to tell us:

  • A picture of the cooking space, if it is a garden or field
  • The date and time of the event
  • The venue or postcode
  • Which courses you have in mind

Send us the date, your venue or RG20 postcode and guest numbers, along with any dietary needs, and you’ll get a menu idea and a price. To get started, use our quote form.

About the dishes

Paella Valenciana

In Valencia, the recipe is fiercely debated. The classic version is chicken, green beans and butter beans with saffron.
