Paella catering near Woodstock
DIY paella versus live catering
Hiring a pan and burner is one option, but you’ll still need to source ingredients, prep and cook for hours. A caterer handles all of that.
Not sure whether to cook yourself or book a caterer? Consider your numbers, your guests’ diets and your own time. We are happy to give you a quote to compare.
About our paella catering in Woodstock
Live paella works almost anywhere with a level, ventilated spot: a garden, marquee, barn, courtyard or field in and around Woodstock. We’re often asked to cater company summer parties and wedding breakfasts and evening food, with mixed paella, paella Valenciana and seafood paella.
For a place the size of Woodstock, your own garden is frequently the best venue: no venue hire, and nobody stuck cooking. Tell us about access down the lane or drive. Timings are planned around your event, so the paella is ready when you want to eat.

Before you choose a spot
Every venue is different, so we ask about the space when you get in touch. Generally, we look for:
- Access for unloading near the cooking spot
- A safe distance from anything that could catch
- A level, firm spot for the burners and pans
If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise before booking.

How the day works
On the day, we set up our cooking area, light the burners and start the sofrito. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, so the timing is planned around your event. In Woodstock, the sun sets at about 9:30pm in late June and about 7:10pm in late September, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. For winter events, when it is dark by about 3:55pm, we need lighting at the cooking spot.
- It starts with your date, venue, numbers and any dietary needs.
- We suggest a menu and confirm a quote, including what’s included.
- On the day, we set up the burners and pans and get the stock going.
- The rice cooks in full view, while tapas or canapés go round.
- We serve from the pan, then clear our cooking area away.
Preparing for the day
- Have a level space ready for the pans
- Tell us where to park and unload
- Send us final numbers and dietary needs in good time

Live paella or other catering?
A cold buffet is simple but has no theatre, and food can sit out for a while. Paella is cooked live and served hot. Live paella often compares well with a sit-down meal, because it needs no kitchen and fewer staff. Ask us for a quote.

The menu, dish by dish
Seafood paella
Seafood paella starts with a good fish and shellfish stock. Shellfish goes in towards the end so it stays tender.
Paella Valenciana
Paella Valenciana is the original: chicken, beans and saffron, not seafood. It is a favourite with guests who don’t eat fish.
FAQs for Woodstock
We’re having a ceremony at Church of St Mary Magdalene: can you cater afterwards?
Yes, at a garden, marquee or venue nearby with a suitable spot to cook. Live cooking generally happens at the reception venue, not the church. Tell us where the reception will be.
How far is Woodstock from London?
About 59 miles from central London.
Do you cater for young children?
Yes, children are easy to cater for. Let us know numbers and ages, and we’ll plan for them.
Do you bring everything you need?
All cooking kit comes with us. Tell us what the venue provides, such as tables or crockery.
Do you cook inside?
Indoors only where ventilation and the venue allow it. Courtyards, doorways and terraces frequently work.
Can you serve tapas as well?
Yes, and it is a popular combination. Tapas go out first, then the paella.
How many paellas should we have?
Most events have two or three: meat or mixed, seafood, and vegetable or vegan. We will suggest a split based on your guests.
What about pudding?
Yes. Spanish desserts such as churros or crema catalana, or you can serve your own cake.
