Live paella catering in West Langdon

About our paella catering in West Langdon

Watching it cook is part of the experience. People drift over as the sofrito sizzles and the rice turns gold, and the aroma does the rest. We are frequently asked to cater naming days and family parties and retirement and leaving parties, with paella Valenciana, chicken and chorizo paella and vegan paella.

Somewhere as small as West Langdon, a garden or field is frequently the venue. Country lanes and long drives are no problem if we know about them, and a firm spot near where we park makes set-up easier. We serve straight from the pan, so it is hot and generous, and service is quick once it is ready.

Dietary needs and planning tips

We take diets and allergies seriously. Help us by following these steps:

  • Ensure most guests can sit to eat
  • Make sure each pan is labelled
  • Put allergy details in writing
  • Collect dietary needs with your RSVPs

On the day, you shouldn’t have to think about the food. We arrive in good time, set up, cook and serve, and stay in touch with your venue about timings.

Add canapé tapas with the drinks or table tapas as a starter as the rice cooks.

Before you choose a spot

We’ll agree the cooking spot with you before the day. It needs to meet a few simple requirements:

  • Outdoor space or a ventilated gazebo
  • The venue’s permission for live cooking
  • A safe distance from anything that could catch

If you’re unsure, send a photo of the space and we will say what we think.

About the dishes

Black rice

Black rice looks dramatic and tastes of the sea, and is popular with adventurous guests.

Mixed paella

Paella mixta combines meat and seafood in one pan, and it’s often the first pan to empty.

Can I cook paella for a crowd myself?

A DIY paella party works for small groups. For larger numbers, mixed diets or a wedding, a caterer takes the pressure off, and handles separate pans for each diet.

Cooking paella for a crowd yourself is possible, but it is harder than it looks. Large pans need the right burners, and getting the rice right at scale is tricky. Our guide to cooking paella for a crowd explains how.

Organising for someone else?

Hosting a party at home? Send us a picture of the garden and tell us about access, and we’ll let you know if live paella is a good fit.

If you’re planning an event on someone’s behalf, whether you are a planner, an office manager or an event organiser, we’ll work directly with you and the venue. It keeps things simple.

What paella catering costs

Each event is quoted on its own, and the price depends on a few things:

  • Distance and access to the venue
  • The length of service
  • Your choice of paellas
  • Crockery and cutlery, or disposables

Larger events usually cost less per head, since the set-up is much the same either way. Give us your numbers and we will quote.

Details that help

A few details help us give you an accurate quote. Here’s what’s useful:

  • A picture of the cooking space, if it’s a garden or field
  • Whether the venue has crockery or staff
  • Whether you want canapés, tapas or desserts
  • Where the event is

Most quotes start with a few simple details: the date, where the event is, how many guests and any dietary needs. To send them, fill in our quote form.

FAQs for West Langdon

Is West Langdon close to London?

Roughly 65 miles from the centre of London, and we cover it as standard.

Can you cook near the sea around West Langdon?

Yes, with a sheltered cooking spot. Wind is the main issue on the coast, so we plan shelter.

What do you need at the venue?

Level ground for the burners, pans and a table, in the open air or a ventilated covered area, and the venue’s permission for live cooking.

Will there be enough food?

Pans are sized to your numbers and other courses. Let us know about any other food. Our guide to portions explains more.

Can you supply plates?

We can. Tell us what your venue provides and we’ll include the rest in the quote.

Which areas do you serve?

We cater across London and the South East, Kent included. See all areas.

Do you provide drinks?

Sangria can be added, and we can staff a bar with your drinks.

Which paellas suit our guests?

It depends on your guests. A chicken or mixed paella is typically the most popular, with seafood and vegetable pans alongside.

The process

Service is quick: the paella goes straight from the pan to the plate, so even a long queue moves. When service is finished, we pack down. Around midsummer it stays light in West Langdon until about 9:15pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:00pm, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 3:50pm, so winter events need lighting where we cook.

  1. You share your date, numbers and venue.
  2. We plan the menu with you, including every diet.
  3. We arrive in good time to set up.
  4. The sofrito, stock and rice go in, and guests gather to watch.
  5. We serve hot from the pan and clear our cooking area.

Getting ready for the day
