Paella catering for East Studdal events

Working with your venue

Events in public spaces, like parks, typically need permission. We can send whatever the landowner or council needs from us.

Venues frequently have their own rules about outside caterers: cooking areas, access times and documents. Send us your venue’s requirements and we’ll follow them.

Paella catering in East Studdal, cooked live

Watching it cook is part of the experience. People drift over as the sofrito sizzles and the rice turns gold, and the smell does the rest. Popular choices include mixed paella, vegan paella and chicken and chorizo paella, and typical bookings are for festivals, fairs and school events and birthday celebrations.

In a hamlet or village like East Studdal, your own garden or a neighbour’s field can make a wonderful venue. Gates, verges and soft ground are worth mentioning when you enquire. Everything is cooked from scratch at your event, not reheated.

About the dishes

Vegetable and vegan paella

A vegetable paella is not an afterthought: artichokes, beans, peppers and saffron.

Paella Valenciana

Paella Valenciana is the original: chicken, beans and saffron, rather than seafood. It’s a favourite with guests who don’t eat fish.

How it works

A typical event goes like this: we arrive, set up and start cooking, your guests watch the rice cook, and we serve straight from the pan at the agreed time. Around midsummer it stays light in East Studdal until about 9:15pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:00pm, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. For winter events, when it is dark by about 3:50pm, we need lighting at the cooking spot.

  1. Contact us with the basics: when, where and how many.
  2. We come back with paellas to suit your guests, plus any extras.
  3. A week or so before, we confirm the plan.
  4. We set up, cook from scratch and keep an eye on your timings.
  5. We serve, then leave our area tidy.

Before we arrive

  • Make sure the spot is clear of anything flammable
  • Confirm the venue is happy with live cooking
  • Choose a level spot for the cooking area

Space, weather and the venue

We cook in large pans over gas burners, so we need a suitable spot. These are the things we check:

  • Good ventilation: outdoors, or an open-sided cover
  • Agreement from the venue or landowner to cook on site
  • Clearance from fences, hedges, branches and anything flammable

If you are unsure, send a picture of the space and we will say what we think.

Paella compared with other options

Food trucks and street-food vans serve one portion at a time. A paella pan serves many portions quickly, which suits weddings and parties where everyone eats together. Live paella pricing depends on the event. A simple paella lunch costs less than a wedding with canapés, three paellas and waiting staff. Your quote spells it all out.

Should I cook it myself?

Hiring a pan and burner is one option, but there’s shopping, prep and hours of cooking. A caterer handles all of that.

Plenty of people try cooking paella for their own party. Common mistakes are mismatched pans and burners, overfilling and stirring. If you’d rather be with your guests, we will do the cooking.

Diets, allergies and planning

Few dishes handle mixed diets as well as paella, because each paella is cooked in its own pan. Here are a few tips for planning:

  • Plan a meat, a seafood and a vegetable or vegan pan
  • Plan seating for most guests: paella is easiest eaten sitting down
  • Collect dietary needs with your RSVPs
  • Confirm allergies by email

Let the paella rest for a few minutes before serving, which is when we normally call guests over.

Add canapé tapas with the drinks or table tapas as a starter as the rice cooks.
