Paella catering for Tower Hill events

Paella catering in Tower Hill, cooked live

Paella was made for feeding a crowd: cooked outdoors in a wide, shallow pan and shared. That’s exactly what we bring to your event in Tower Hill. Popular choices include paella Valenciana, black rice and seafood paella, and we’re regularly asked to cater fairs, fêtes and festivals and milestone birthday parties.

In a London neighbourhood like Tower Hill, the cooking spot is generally a back garden, a courtyard or a venue’s terrace. Parking and loading are the main things to plan, so let us know about parking permits or a driveway. The paella is served straight from the pan, so it’s hot and generous, and a queue moves quickly.

A closer look at the menu

Seafood paella

A rich seafood stock with prawns, mussels and squid, finished with lemon wedges. It is normally the most photographed pan.

Paella Valenciana

The original paella from Valencia is a countryside dish of chicken and vegetables, not seafood. It’s a favourite with guests who do not eat fish.

Tower Hill questions

Can you cook in William Curtis Ecological Park?

Only if the landowner, normally the council, allows it. Ask them first, and we will send any information they need.

What’s the nearest station to Tower Hill for guests?

London Fenchurch Street station, in Tower Hill itself.

Is paella a full meal?

It can be. Paella with bread and salad makes a full main course, and tapas or dessert can be added.

How soon do we need to book?

As early as you can, especially for summer weekends. Even if it is short notice, it is worth asking.

Can we add tapas or canapés?

Yes. Canapé tapas with the drinks, or table tapas to share, served while the paella cooks.

When do you arrive?

We get there in good time to set up. The rice itself takes about 20 minutes, timed around your event.

Do you take everything away?

Our cooking area is packed away and left clean. Table clearing is available with waiting staff.

Do you cater in Tower Hill?

Yes. We cover London and the South East, and Tower Hill is within our area and the rest of Greater London. To check your date, fill in our quote form.

Catering for every guest

Nearly every event has some special diets. To cater well for them:

  • Plan a meat, a seafood and a vegetable or vegan pan
  • Add a dietary question to your invitations
  • Tell us about coeliac guests specifically
  • Mention any other courses or food

Paella is best eaten as soon as it’s ready, so we plan service for when guests are ready to eat.

Sangria and bar staff can be added to serve drinks you provide.

Should I cook it myself?

Plenty of people try cooking paella for their own party. Common mistakes are mismatched pans and burners, overfilling and stirring. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us cook.

For a small group, cooking yourself can work well. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, and handles separate pans for each diet.

Planners, venues and businesses

For big numbers, we plan pans and serving points to keep queues short, so guests are fed quickly. Let us know how long the food break is.

If you are organising for someone else, such as a wedding planner, an office manager or a festival organiser, we’ll work directly with you and the venue. It saves passing messages back and forth.

Prices and what affects them

Each event is quoted on its own, based on a few main things:

  • Your choice of paellas
  • Starters, canapés and desserts
  • Plates, cutlery and glassware
  • The number of people

Got a budget? Let us know, and we will suggest a menu to match. A simple menu can still feel generous.

Getting an accurate quote

You don’t need every detail fixed to get a quote, but these help:

  • A photo of the cooking space, if it is a garden or field
  • The address or venue name
  • Approximate guest numbers, including children
  • Whether you want canapés, tapas or desserts

Every event is quoted individually, so the price fits what you actually want. To ask for one, fill in our quote form.

Step by step

Once the rice is in, we do not stir it. That is what gives paella its separate grains and crispy base. Your guests will smell it before they see it. In Tower Hill, the sun sets at about 9:20pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. For winter events, when it’s dark by about 3:55pm, we need lighting at the cooking spot.

  1. We start with a few details about your event.
  2. You get a menu and an itemised quote.
  3. Timings, access and the cooking area are agreed in advance.
  4. On the day, we set up and cook in front of your guests.
  5. We serve from the pan, then pack down.

Getting ready for the day

  • Get the venue’s permission for cooking
  • Ensure the spot is clear of anything flammable
  • Tell us when you want to eat

What we need at the venue

We cook in large pans over gas burners, so we need a suitable spot. These are the things we check:

  • Agreement from the venue or landowner to cook on site
  • A level, firm spot for the burners and pans
  • Parking close enough to carry equipment

As a London location, Tower Hill is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking takes planning: let us know about permits, bays or off-street parking.

If you are unsure, send a picture of the space and we will say what we think.

What we offer

  • Vegan paella
  • Black rice (arroz negro)

Why choose live paella in Tower Hill?

A cold buffet is simple but has no theatre, and food can sit out for a while. Paella is cooked in front of your guests and served hot. Larger events typically cost less per head, since the set-up is much the same either way. Tell us your numbers for an accurate price.

Why us?

  • Paella cooked from scratch on site
  • Crockery and waiting staff if you need them
  • Real theatre, not just catering
  • Catering across Greater London, including Tower Hill
