About our paella catering in Tickleback Row

One cooking area feeds a lot of people, there’s very little waste, and the food is served hot. That is why it works for so many events. For engagement and anniversary parties and christenings and family gatherings, we can cook paella Valenciana, seafood paella and black rice.

In a hamlet or village like Tickleback Row, your own garden or a neighbour’s field can make a wonderful venue. Gates, verges and soft ground are worth mentioning when you enquire. We cater for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests, each in a separate pan.

Questions from Tickleback Row

Can you cater a reception after a service at Church of St Michael and All Angels?

Yes, at a garden, marquee or venue nearby with a suitable spot to cook. Live cooking usually happens at the reception venue, not the church. Send us the reception address.

Which station should guests use for Tickleback Row?

The closest is Bracknell station, roughly 2.3 miles away.

Do you come to Tickleback Row?

Yes, we do. Tickleback Row is one of the places we cover. Tell us your date and we will check availability.

Do you have a kids’ option?

Children are welcome. Let us know numbers and ages, and we will plan for them.

What do you need at the venue?

Less than you might think: a level spot clear of fences, hedges and branches, with room for a serving table. Send us a picture if you are not sure.

How many different paellas?

Two or three covers most guests. Tell us about your guests’ diets and we will suggest the mix.

Can you do gluten-free paella?

We can, if you tell us in advance. The rice is gluten-free, but stocks and chorizo can contain gluten, so we make a separate gluten-free pan.

Do you cook it at the event?

It is. We arrive with everything we need and cook it there and then, serving it hot from the pan.

Dishes our guests love

Vegetable and vegan paella

A slow sofrito, seasonal vegetables and a good vegetable stock make a proper main dish. Vegan versions use plant-based stock.

Seafood paella

Seafood paella starts with a good fish and shellfish stock. Shellfish goes in towards the end so it stays tender.

Choosing a paella caterer

How the day works

We take care of the food from set-up to service, so you are free to enjoy your event. Any tapas or canapés are served first while the paella cooks. Around midsummer it stays light in Tickleback Row until about 9:25pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. For winter events, when it is dark by about 3:55pm, we need lighting at the cooking spot.

  1. It starts with your date, venue, numbers and any dietary needs.
  2. We put together a menu and a clear quote.
  3. On the day, we set up the burners and pans and get the stock going.
  4. Your guests watch the paella cook, with any tapas served first.
  5. We serve it hot from the pan and clear our area when service ends.

Getting ready for the day

  • Make sure the spot is clear of anything flammable
  • Confirm the venue is happy with live cooking
  • Arrange a covered spot for wet weather

Planners, venues and businesses

Wedding planners and venue coordinators are welcome to contact us directly, and we’ll keep you updated on timings and set-up.

Many venues have rules for outside caterers: where cooking is allowed, access times and the paperwork they need. Tell us what your venue needs and we’ll work to it.

Can I cook paella for a crowd myself?

Cooking paella for a crowd yourself is possible, but it is harder than it looks. Large pans need the right burners, and getting the rice right at scale is tricky. Our guide to cooking paella for a crowd explains how.

Doing it yourself saves money, but the host ends up stuck at the stove. Booking us means you get the show without the stress.

What paella catering costs

Each event is quoted on its own, and the price depends on a few things:

  • Waiting and bar staff
  • Whether you need crockery
  • Your choice of paellas
  • How many courses

Travel, parking and access can affect the price, so it helps to tell us about your venue. Everything is confirmed in writing.

Details that help

When you get in touch, it helps to tell us:

  • Where the event is
  • Roughly how many adults and children
  • Which courses you have in mind
  • Any dietary needs and allergies

Each quote is tailored to your event. Tell us your date and guest numbers, and we will confirm whether we’re available that day.

Catering for every guest

With a little notice, every diet is easy. We suggest:

  • Tell us how many children are coming
  • Confirm allergies by email
  • Let us know if anyone has coeliac disease
  • Have seats for most of your guests

Once the rice is in, it needs about 20 minutes, so we start it at the right moment for your event. If timings shift, we adapt.

Add canapé tapas with the drinks or table tapas as a starter while the paella cooks.

  • Cooked live in giant pans at your event
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal options
  • Paella, tapas, canapés and desserts
  • Sangria, bar staff, crockery and waiting staff
