Paella catering for your event in The Hyde

Two or three pans side by side cover every guest: meat, seafood and vegetarian or vegan paellas. Every pan is cooked on its own. We’re frequently asked to cater anniversary celebrations and retirement celebrations, with chicken and chorizo paella, vegan paella and vegetable paella.

From a terraced garden to a hired hall, events in The Hyde come in all shapes. Tell us how close we can park, and whether there are steps or narrow passages. The paella is served straight from the pan, so every plate is hot, and a queue moves quickly.

Planning the cooking area

Safety and good cooking both depend on the spot we use. We look for:

  • Confirmation that open cooking is allowed
  • Flat, firm ground for the cooking area
  • Outdoor space or a ventilated gazebo

As a London location, The Hyde is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking takes planning: tell us about parking bays, permits or a driveway.

Not sure about your space? Send us a photo and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

Our caterer checklist

Working with your venue

If you’re planning an event on someone’s behalf, whether you’re a planner, an office manager or an event organiser, we’re happy to deal with you and the venue directly. It keeps things simple.

Organising a club, school or community event in The Hyde? Paella is quick to serve to a crowd and suits most diets. Give us the details and we will suggest a plan.

Live paella or other catering?

A plated meal needs a kitchen, more staff and typically costs more per head. Live paella needs a level, ventilated spot and the venue’s permission to cook, and gives guests something to watch. Live paella often compares well with a sit-down meal, because it needs no kitchen and fewer staff. Ask us for a quote.

Why us?

  • Hot food served quickly from the pan
  • Waiting staff and crockery on request
  • Live cooking, not reheated food
  • Sangria and bar staff available

What’s in the pans

Seafood paella

The secret is a well-made seafood stock. Shellfish goes in towards the end so it stays tender.

Paella Valenciana

The original paella from Valencia is a countryside dish of chicken and vegetables, rather than seafood. It’s frequently the most popular pan at an event.

The Hyde questions

Could we have live paella in West Hendon Playing Fields?

Only if the landowner, normally the council, allows it. Ask them first, and we will send any information they need.

Which station should guests use for The Hyde?

The Hyde has its own station: Hendon station.

How much paella per person?

We plan quantities from your guest numbers, timings and other courses, with a sensible margin. Accurate numbers help.

Can you do sangria?

Yes, sangria. We can also supply bar staff for your own drinks.

Who clears up?

We pack down our cooking area after service. Waiting staff can clear tables if you book them.

Which paellas suit our guests?

It depends on your guests. A chicken or mixed paella is typically the most popular, alongside seafood and vegetable or vegan pans.

What about pudding?

Yes. Spanish desserts such as churros or crema catalana.

How soon do we need to book?

Early, particularly for summer Saturdays. Even if it’s short notice, it’s worth asking.

The process

We work to your timings. If speeches run late or the photos take longer, we adjust the cooking so it is still served fresh. Evenings in The Hyde stay light until about 9:20pm in June, but by late September sunset is around 7:05pm; once it’s dark, we need light to cook and serve by.

  1. You tell us the date, venue, guest numbers and any dietary needs.
  2. We put together a menu and a clear quote.
  3. On the day, we set up the burners and pans and get the stock going.
  4. Your guests watch the paella cook, with any tapas served first.
  5. It’s served straight from the pan, and we pack down afterwards.

How to prepare

  • Plan cover in case of rain
