Live paella catering in Stratfield Saye
How our paella catering works in Stratfield Saye
A couple of different pans covers everyone: a meat or mixed paella, a seafood paella and a vegetable or vegan one. Every pan is cooked on its own. On the menu are paella Valenciana, vegan paella and seafood paella, and we’re frequently booked for weddings, from canapés to evening food and community events and fairs.
In a rural place like Stratfield Saye, the setting does a lot of the work: a paella cooking in a garden or field feels right at home. Tell us about access and the ground. We bring everything we need to cook, and pack down our cooking area when service is finished.

How we price paella catering
There is nothing hidden: the quote reflects:
- Parking and unloading
- How many staff you need
- Crockery and cutlery, or disposables
- Chicken, vegetable or premium seafood
Got a budget? Let us know, and we’ll suggest a menu to match. A simple menu can still feel generous.
Getting an accurate quote
You do not need every detail fixed to get a quote, but it helps to know:
- A picture of the cooking space, if it’s a garden or field
- Approximate guest numbers, including children
- The date and rough timings
- Whether the venue has crockery or staff
It’s easy to get a price: tell us the date, place, numbers and any dietary needs. We will send a clear, itemised quote.
Questions from Stratfield Saye
We’re having a ceremony at Church of St. Mary the Virgin: can you cater afterwards?
Yes, at a garden, marquee or venue nearby with a suitable spot to cook. Live cooking normally happens at the reception venue, not the church. Send us the reception address.
Which station should guests use for Stratfield Saye?
Mortimer station, about 1.6 miles north-west of the centre.
Do you come to Stratfield Saye?
Yes. We cover London and the South East, including Stratfield Saye and the rest of West Berkshire. To check your date, fill in our quote form.
Will there be enough food?
We plan quantities from your guest numbers, timings and other courses, with a sensible margin. Give us accurate numbers for the best result.
Which paellas do you recommend?
It depends on your guests. A chicken or mixed paella is normally the most popular, alongside seafood and vegetable or vegan pans.
Are premium seafood options available?
We’ll suggest seafood to suit your menu and budget. Premium shellfish can be added.
Can you serve tapas as well?
Yes, and it’s a popular combination. Tapas go out first, then the paella.
Do you have a kids’ option?
Yes, children are easy to cater for. Tell us how many and roughly how old, and we will plan a pan with them in mind.
How it works
When we arrive, we set up the burners and pans and start cooking the sofrito and stock. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, so the timing is planned around your event. Evenings in Stratfield Saye stay light until about 9:25pm in June, but by late September sunset is around 7:10pm; after dark, the cooking and serving areas need good lighting.
- First, tell us about your event.
- We suggest paellas and extras and send a clear quote.
- Timings, access and the cooking area are agreed in advance.
- We cook live on the day while guests watch.
- It is served straight from the pan, and we clear our area afterwards.
Getting ready for the day
- Give us a contact for the day
- Keep the cooking spot clear of fences, hedges and branches
- Send us final numbers and dietary needs in good time

Planning help
Live paella or other catering?
Next to a hog roast or barbecue, live paella is easier for vegetarian, vegan and halal guests, because each paella has its own pan. It is served quickly from the pan, so queues move. Live paella often compares well with a sit-down meal, as there is no kitchen to hire and fewer staff to pay. Ask us for a quote.
Why us?
- Plates, cutlery and waiting staff available
- A quote that spells everything out
- Add tapas, canapés and Spanish desserts
- Everything cooked fresh at your event

The menu, dish by dish
Mixed paella
Paella mixta combines meat and seafood in one pan, and it’s often the first pan to empty.
Vegetable and vegan paella
Seasonal vegetables on a rich sofrito base make a paella that stands on its own. For vegans, the stock is plant-based.
For event organisers in Stratfield Saye
Organising a club, school or community event in Stratfield Saye? Paella is quick to serve to a crowd and suits most diets. Tell us about the event and we’ll suggest a menu.
If your event is in a public space, such as a park, check what permission you need first. We can send whatever the landowner or council needs from us.
What we need at the venue
Live paella is cooked over gas burners in large pans, so we need a suitable spot. Here’s what we look for:
- Level ground for the pans and burners
- Somewhere close to park and unload
- Open air or a well-ventilated covered spot
If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise.
What we offer
- Seafood paella
- Vegan paella
- Paella Valenciana
- Black rice (arroz negro)
- Chicken & chorizo paella
- Vegetable paella
- Mixed paella
DIY paella versus live catering
Not sure whether to cook yourself or book a caterer? Consider your numbers, your guests’ diets and your own time. We’re happy to give you a quote to compare.
For a small group, cooking yourself can work well. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, and handles separate pans for each diet.

Catering for every guest
Most events have a mix of diets. To cater well for them:
- Send allergies to us in writing
- Tell us what else is being served
- Have seats for most of your guests
- Let us know if anyone has coeliac disease
Let the paella rest for a few minutes before serving, and that is when we invite guests up.
Bread, salad and lemon wedges make the meal go further.
