Choosing a paella caterer

Paella catering in Springhead, made fresh on the day

A couple of different pans covers everyone: a meat or mixed paella, a seafood paella and a vegetable or vegan one. Each is cooked separately, so diets are easy to manage. Whether it is christenings and family gatherings and milestone birthday parties, we will put together a menu of paella Valenciana, chicken and chorizo paella and vegan paella.

There may be a hall or club near Springhead if your garden is small; live paella can work at any of them, given permission and outdoor space. We serve straight from the pan, so it’s hot and generous, and a queue moves quickly.

Live paella or other catering?

Barbecues cook in batches, so food comes off in waves. Paella is ready all at once, so everyone eats together. Live paella frequently compares well with a sit-down meal, as there’s no kitchen to hire and fewer staff to pay. Ask us for a quote.

Why us?

  • Catering across Kent, including Springhead
  • Real theatre, not just catering
  • Hot food served quickly from the pan
  • A clear, itemised quote

Catering for every guest

Few dishes handle mixed diets as well as paella, because every paella has its own pan. A few tips:

  • Ask about diets and allergies on your invitation or RSVP
  • Tell us what else is being served
  • Make sure each pan is labelled
  • Tell us about coeliac guests specifically

After service, we pack down our cooking area, quietly and quickly.

Add canapé tapas with the drinks or table tapas as a starter while the paella cooks.

Cook it yourself or book a caterer?

Some hosts like to cook themselves. Common mistakes are mismatched pans and burners, overfilling and stirring. If you’d rather be with your guests, we will do the cooking.

For event organisers in Springhead

Venues often have their own rules about outside caterers: cooking areas, access times and documents. Tell us what your venue needs and we’ll work to it.

For big numbers, we plan pans and serving points to keep queues short, so guests are fed quickly. Tell us how long you have for food.

What’s in the pans

Black rice

Squid ink rice is bold and savoury, and is popular with adventurous guests.

Seafood paella

The secret is a well-made seafood stock. Shellfish goes in towards the end so it stays tender.

Springhead questions

Could we have live paella in Castle Hill Park?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, normally the council. Check with them, and we will provide our paperwork.

How far is Springhead from London?

About 19 miles from central London, and we cover it as standard.

Does paella work for big events?

Yes. Large pans and fast service from the pan make it well suited to crowds.

Do you cook it at the event?

Yes. We bring the pans, burners and fresh ingredients and cook on the day, serving it hot from the pan.

Is halal food available?

We can. Tell us how many guests need halal food, and we’ll cook a separate pan.

What do you need at the venue?

Level ground for the burners, pans and a table, in the open air or a ventilated covered area, and the venue’s permission for live cooking.

Do you come to Springhead?

Yes. We cover London and the South East, including Springhead and the rest of Kent. For a quote, fill in our quote form.

Do you cater for vegetarian guests?

Yes, and they’re popular with everyone. They have their own pans, stock and spoons.

Space, weather and the venue

Every venue is different, so we will ask about yours before we confirm. In general, we need:

  • A safe distance from anything that could catch
  • The venue’s permission for live cooking
  • A level, firm spot for the burners and pans

If you’re unsure, send a photo of the space and we will say what we think.

How the day works

The cooking is part of the entertainment. Onion, garlic, peppers and tomato go in first, then the stock and saffron, then the rice, which cooks without stirring. Around midsummer it stays light in Springhead until about 9:20pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:00pm, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. For winter events, when it is dark by about 3:50pm, we need lighting at the cooking spot.

  1. First, tell us about your event.
  2. We suggest paellas and extras and send a clear quote.
  3. Timings, access and the cooking area are agreed in advance.
  4. On the day, we set up and cook in front of your guests.
  5. It is served straight from the pan, and we clear our area afterwards.

Before we arrive

  • Have a level space ready for the pans
  • Make sure the spot is clear of anything flammable
  • Arrange a covered spot for wet weather

How to get a price
