Should I cook it myself?
Plenty of people try cooking paella for their own party. The usual problems are a pan too big for the burner, too much rice and stirring once the rice is in. If you’d rather be with your guests, we will do the cooking.
Cooking it yourself? Test your pan and burner first, keep the stock hot, and don’t stir once the rice goes in. And keep children and pets well away from the burner.
How it works
When we arrive, we set up the burners and pans and start cooking the sofrito and stock. The rice goes in about 20 minutes before serving, so we time everything to your schedule. In South Ruislip, the sun sets at about 9:20pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, so summer evening events are normally served in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 3:55pm, so winter events need lighting where we cook.
- Contact us with the basics: when, where and how many.
- We come back with paellas to suit your guests, plus any extras.
- Closer to the day, we confirm timings and the cooking spot.
- On the day we cook live, timed around your event.
- Guests are served from the pan, and our area is cleared afterwards.
Before we arrive
- Make sure we can park close by to unload
- Confirm numbers and diets before the day
- Make sure the spot is clear of anything flammable

Planning help
Catering for every guest
Paella is one of the easiest dishes for mixed diets, because each paella is cooked in its own pan. A few tips:
- Collect dietary needs with your RSVPs
- Give us separate numbers for children
- Let us know if anyone has coeliac disease
- Plan a meat, a seafood and a vegetable or vegan pan
Paella is at its best straight from the pan, so we plan service for when guests are ready to eat.
Tapas or canapés make a good start while the paella cooks.
What’s in the pans
Paella Valenciana
Paella Valenciana is the original: chicken, beans and saffron, not seafood. It is often the most popular pan at an event.
Black rice
Black rice gets its colour from squid ink, and is usually served with alioli. It’s a striking addition to a seafood menu.
Why choose live paella in South Ruislip?
Cold buffets are easy but forgettable, and food can sit out for a while. Paella is cooked in front of your guests and served hot. Travel, parking and access can affect the price, so tell us about the venue when you ask for a quote. The full price is confirmed before you book.

South Ruislip questions
Is parking a problem for events in South Ruislip?
It can be, so tell us about parking bays, permits or a driveway. We’ll plan unloading around it.
We’re having a ceremony at Church of St Mary: can you cater afterwards?
Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall where we can cook. Churches rarely have space for live cooking, so the meal is generally elsewhere. Tell us where the reception will be.
Do you take everything away?
We pack down our cooking area after service. Waiting staff can clear tables if you book them.
How many different paellas?
Two or three is usual: meat or mixed, seafood, and vegetable or vegan. We’ll suggest a split based on your guests.
Is paella a full meal?
Yes. Paella with bread and salad makes a full main course, and tapas or dessert can be added.
Where do you cater?
London and South East England: Kent, Surrey, East and West Sussex, Hampshire, Berkshire, Bucks, Oxfordshire and the Isle of Wight, including South Ruislip.
How much paella per person?
Pans are sized to your numbers and other courses. Tell us what else is being served. Our guide to portions explains more.
Do you offer halal options?
Yes, we do. Halal paella is cooked with halal chicken and no pork or alcohol, in a separate pan.
