Paella catering in Ramsden, made fresh on the day
Everything is cooked from scratch on site, starting with a slow sofrito of onion, garlic, peppers and tomato, followed by stock, saffron and rice. Typical bookings include naming days and family parties and milestone birthday parties, serving paella Valenciana, mixed paella and chicken and chorizo paella.
In a hamlet or village like Ramsden, your own garden or a neighbour’s field can make a wonderful venue. Mention gates and soft ground when you contact us. Every pan is cooked in front of your guests, so the food is hot, fresh and part of the occasion.

What’s in the pans
Black rice
Black rice gets its colour from squid ink, and is typically served with alioli. It is a striking addition to a seafood menu.
Vegetable and vegan paella
A vegetable paella is not an afterthought: peppers, artichokes and beans with saffron, cooked in its own pan.
Should I cook it myself?
DIY catering keeps costs down, but the host spends the party cooking. With live paella catering, you get the theatre without the work.
For a small group, cooking yourself can work well. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, and handles separate pans for each diet.
For planners, venues and organisers
For larger events, we plan the number of pans and serving points around your timings, so guests are fed quickly. Tell us how long you have for food.
If you’re booking for a business, tell us how you’d like to handle the booking and payment, and we will explain how it works. We are happy to liaise with facilities on access and timings.
Planning for every diet
Every guest is catered for, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal included. To get it right:
- Put allergy details in writing
- Plan a meat, a seafood and a vegetable or vegan pan
- Tell us about coeliac guests specifically
- Count adults and children separately
Any staff you book serve and clear, so you can enjoy your guests.
Crockery, cutlery and waiting staff are available if your venue doesn’t provide them.
Live paella or other catering?
Compared with a hog roast or barbecue, paella makes vegetarian, vegan and halal guests easier to cater for, because each paella has its own pan. It is served quickly from the pan, so queues move. Comparing caterers? Look at what each quote includes: staff, crockery, sides, travel and VAT. Our quotes spell it all out.

Ramsden questions
Do you come out to small places like Ramsden?
No, we cook in small places too. Tell us about lanes, gates and parking.
Is Ramsden close to London?
About 64 miles from central London, and well within our area.
Can we add tapas or canapés?
Of course. Canapé tapas with the drinks, or table tapas to share, served while the paella cooks.
When should we book?
Early, particularly for summer Saturdays. Ask about your date even if it is soon.
Can you feed plenty of people?
Yes. Big pans feed a lot of people, and service from the pan is quick.
How many paellas should we have?
Two or three is usual: meat or mixed, seafood, and vegetable or vegan. We’ll help you decide the split.
Do you cater for young children?
Of course. Children frequently love a simple chicken paella. Include children in your numbers.
Do you cook it at the event?
It is. We bring the pans, burners and fresh ingredients and cook on the day, serving it hot from the pan.
Before you choose a spot
Most gardens and venues can host live paella, but a few things matter:
- Somewhere close to park and unload
- Level ground for the pans and burners
- Outdoor space or a ventilated gazebo
Not sure about your space? Send us a picture and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

What happens on the day
It’s a relaxed, well-organised set-up. We agree arrival and serving times in advance, set up the pans and burners, and get on with cooking and serving. In Ramsden, the sun sets at about 9:30pm in late June and about 7:10pm in late September, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 3:55pm, so winter events need lighting where we cook.
- Contact us with the basics: when, where and how many.
- We come back with paellas to suit your guests, plus any extras.
- A week or so before, we confirm the plan.
- On the day we cook live, timed around your event.
- Guests are served from the pan, and our area is cleared afterwards.
How to prepare
- Tell us where to park and unload
- Keep the cooking spot clear of fences, hedges and branches
- Plan cover in case of rain
