Throwing a party at home? Send a picture of the space and tell us about parking, and we will let you know if live paella is a good fit.

Venues often have their own rules about outside caterers: cooking areas, access times and documents. Send us your venue’s requirements and we will follow them.

Prices and what affects them

These are the factors that matter most:

  • Guest numbers
  • Timings and hours
  • Crockery and cutlery, or disposables
  • Extra courses such as canapés, tapas and dessert

Tapas, desserts, sangria, staff and crockery are optional extras, so you only pay for what you want.

What we need to know

A few details help us give you an accurate quote. Here’s what’s useful:

  • Approximate guest numbers, including children
  • Where the event is
  • Anything your venue supplies
  • Which courses you have in mind

A detailed enquiry gets a more accurate quote: the venue, the timings, the courses you’d like and any extras. To send your details, send us your details through our quote form.

Planning for every diet

A little planning makes sure everyone can eat. Try these:

  • Let us know about other food at the event
  • Ask for labels on each pan
  • Choose two or three paellas so every guest has a choice
  • Plan seating for most guests: paella is easiest eaten sitting down

On the day, you shouldn’t have to think about the food. We set up, cook and serve, and stay in touch with your venue about timings.

Tapas or canapés make a good start as the rice cooks.

Paella compared with other options

For something a little different, live paella brings colour, aroma and a touch of Spain. Access and travel can make a difference to the cost, so it helps to tell us about your venue. The full price is confirmed before you book.

What you get with us

  • Food that becomes part of the entertainment
  • Every diet catered for, pan by pan
  • Paella cooked from scratch on site
  • Hot food served quickly from the pan

What happens on the day

Expect a friendly, organised team. Arrival and serving times are agreed beforehand, set up the pans and burners, and get on with cooking and serving. Around midsummer it stays light in Hinton Waldrist until about 9:25pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:10pm, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. For winter events, when it’s dark by about 4:00pm, we need lighting at the cooking spot.

  1. You share your date, numbers and venue.
  2. We plan the menu with you, including every diet.
  3. We arrive in good time to set up.
  4. The sofrito, stock and rice go in, and guests gather to watch.

The menu, dish by dish

Seafood paella

Prawns, mussels and squid in a rich fish stock, cooked until the rice is golden. It is the pan people photograph.

Vegetable and vegan paella

The vegetable pan is a dish in its own right: peppers, artichokes and beans with saffron, cooked in its own pan.

Occasions we cook for in Hinton Waldrist

Few dishes cope with mixed diets like paella, because each version is cooked in its own pan. Everyone gets the same kind of meal.
