Paella catering in Firgo

About our paella catering in Firgo

We cook every paella from scratch on the day, starting with a slow sofrito of onion, garlic, peppers and tomato, then the stock, saffron and rice. For family celebrations and christenings and wedding breakfasts and evening food, we will put together a menu of vegetable paella, paella Valenciana and black rice.

Somewhere as small as Firgo, a garden or field is often the venue. Tell us about narrow lanes or long drives and we will plan for them, and a firm spot near where we park makes set-up easier. Each paella is cooked from scratch on the day, never made in advance and reheated, and served as soon as it is ready.

For planners, venues and organisers

Booking for a company? Tell us what your finance team needs, and we will explain how it works. We can work with your facilities team on access and timings.

Hosting a party at home? Send us a photo of the garden and tell us about access, and we’ll tell you honestly whether live paella will work.

Space, weather and the venue

Most gardens and venues can host live paella, but a few things matter:

  • Flat, firm ground for the cooking area
  • Somewhere close to park and unload
  • Clearance from fences, hedges, branches and anything flammable

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise.

Mixed paella

Mixed paella brings meat and seafood together.

Seafood paella

The secret is a well-made seafood stock. The shellfish is added late so it stays tender.

What affects the price in Firgo

Every event is priced individually, based on a few main things:

  • Distance and access to the venue
  • How many guests are eating
  • How many courses
  • Plates, cutlery and glassware

Travel, parking and access can affect the price, so tell us about the venue when you ask for a quote. Everything is confirmed in writing.

What we need to know

We can quote more accurately with a few details. Here’s what’s useful:

  • Roughly how many adults and children
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal and allergy numbers
  • A picture of where we’d cook
  • The date and time of the event

Not sure what you need yet? No problem: give us the basics about your event, and we will suggest a menu. Start when you are ready: use our quote form.

Step by step

It’s a relaxed, well-organised set-up. Arrival and serving times are agreed beforehand, set up our cooking area, and get on with cooking and serving. In Firgo, the sun sets at about 9:25pm in late June and about 7:10pm in late September, so summer evening events are typically served in daylight. For winter events, when it is dark by about 4:00pm, we need lighting at the cooking spot.

  1. First, tell us about your event.
  2. We suggest paellas and extras and send a clear quote.
  3. Timings, access and the cooking area are agreed in advance.
  4. We cook live on the day while guests watch.
  5. We serve from the pan, then pack down.

Before we arrive

  • Choose a level spot for the cooking area
  • Make sure the spot is clear of anything flammable
  • Let us know who to talk to on the day

Planning help

Firgo questions

Is Firgo too small for live paella?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Let us know about access and parking.

We are having a ceremony at Church of St Mary: can you cater afterwards?

Yes, at a garden, marquee or venue nearby with a suitable spot to cook. Live cooking generally happens at the reception venue, not the church. Send us the reception address.

Can the paella be cooked in a hall?

Only in a suitable, well-ventilated area with the venue’s permission. Courtyards, doorways and terraces frequently work.

Can you cater for children?

Of course. A simple chicken paella is generally popular with children. Tell us how many are coming.

How does live paella catering work?

We set up a cooking area at your venue, cook the paella from scratch in large pans while your guests watch, and serve it straight from the pan.

When should we book?

As soon as you have a date. Popular dates book up first, so it pays to ask early.

What equipment do you bring?

All cooking kit comes with us. Let us know what your venue has, like tables or crockery.

Should we have more than one paella?

Most events have two or three: meat or mixed, seafood, and vegetable or vegan. We’ll help you decide the split.

Diets, allergies and planning

We take diets and allergies seriously. Here’s how you can help:

  • Put allergy details in writing
  • Flag any coeliac guests, not just gluten-free preferences
  • Ask for labels on each pan
  • Collect dietary needs with your RSVPs

You shouldn’t have to worry about the food on the day. We set up, cook and serve, and keep in touch with you or your venue about timings.

Bread, salad and lemon wedges make the meal go further and suit guests who are not big rice eaters.

Should I cook it myself?

Weighing up DIY against a caterer? Consider your numbers, your guests’ diets and your own time. Ask us for a quote and compare.

Doing it yourself saves money, but the host ends up stuck at the stove. With live paella catering, you get the theatre without the work.

Live paella or other catering?

Barbecues cook in batches, so food comes off in waves. Paella is ready all at once, so everyone eats together. Got a budget? Let us know, and we will suggest a menu to match. Even a simple menu can be a feast.
