Paella catering in Finsbury Park, made fresh on the day

Almost any venue with a level, ventilated spot will do: gardens, marquees, barns, courtyards and festival fields. On the menu are vegetable paella, mixed paella and black rice, and we are regularly asked to cater anniversaries and engagement parties and staff parties and work lunches.

In Finsbury Park, events range from terrace gardens to hired halls. Let us know where we can stop to unload, and whether there are steps or narrow passages. We plan the timings around your day, whether that’s speeches, a lunch break or a festival schedule.

Planning for every diet

A little planning makes sure everyone can eat. Try these:

  • Give us separate numbers for children
  • Send allergies to us in writing
  • Mention any other courses or food
  • Have seats for most of your guests

The rice takes about 20 minutes once it goes in, so we start it at the right moment for your event. If timings shift, we adapt.

Sangria and bar staff can be added to serve drinks you provide.

Working with your venue

For big numbers, we plan pans and serving points to keep queues short, so guests are fed quickly. Let us know how long the food break is.

Wedding planners and venue coordinators are welcome to contact us directly, and we will keep you updated on timings and set-up.

Cook it yourself or book a caterer?

Cooking it yourself? Test your pan and burner first, have hot stock ready, and don’t stir once the rice goes in. And keep children and pets well away from the burner.

For a small group, cooking yourself can work well. For larger numbers, mixed diets or a wedding, a caterer takes the pressure off, and handles separate pans for each diet.

Before you choose a spot

Safety and good cooking both depend on the spot we use. We need:

  • Parking close enough to carry equipment
  • Good ventilation: outdoors, or an open-sided cover
  • A safe distance from anything that could catch

Finsbury Park is in London, within the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking can be tight: tell us about parking bays, permits or a driveway.

If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and we will say what we think before booking.

Finsbury Park: your questions answered

What’s the nearest station to Finsbury Park for guests?

Finsbury Park station, in Finsbury Park itself.

Can you cook in Stationers Park?

Only if the landowner, usually the council, allows it. Check with them, and we will provide our paperwork.

How does live paella catering work?

We set up a cooking area at your venue, cook the paella from scratch in large pans while your guests watch, and serve it straight from the pan.

Do you come to Finsbury Park?

We do. Finsbury Park is one of the places we cover. Tell us your date and we’ll check availability.

Is halal food available?

Yes. We use halal chicken and leave out pork and alcohol, in its own pan.

Do you provide drinks?

Sangria can be added, and provide bar staff to serve drinks you supply.

Can you cook in the rain?

We cook under cover, like a gazebo or open-sided marquee. We will agree a wet-weather plan with you.

How soon do we need to book?

As soon as you have a date. Peak dates go quickly, so it pays to ask early.

Dishes our guests love

Paella Valenciana

In Valencia, the recipe is fiercely debated. The traditional pan has chicken, flat green beans and butter beans, and it’s a crowd-pleaser.

Mixed paella

A mix of chicken and seafood.

Why choose paella catering in Finsbury Park?

Few dishes cope with mixed diets like paella, thanks to separate pans for each version. Everyone gets the same kind of meal.

Big or small, live paella works well. Typical bookings include:

  • Festivals, fairs and school events
  • Anniversary celebrations
  • Company summer parties
  • Leaving dos and retirements

For a christening or wedding at a church such as St John the Evangelist, a paella lunch or reception nearby is an easy way to feed everyone.

Questions to ask before booking

  • A clear list of what’s included

Why live cooking beats a buffet

Vans serve one order at a time. A big pan serves many guests fast, which suits weddings and parties where everyone eats together. Extras such as tapas, desserts, sangria, staff and crockery are priced separately, so you can choose exactly what you need.

What happens on the day

Expect a friendly, organised team. We agree arrival and serving times in advance, set up our cooking area, and get on with cooking and serving. Around midsummer it stays light in Finsbury Park until about 9:20pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so summer evening events are typically served in daylight. For winter events, when it is dark by about 3:55pm, we need lighting at the cooking spot.

  1. Start with the date, the place and the numbers.
  2. Expect a menu idea and a clear, itemised price.
  3. Closer to the day, we confirm timings and the cooking spot.
  4. On the day we cook live, timed around your event.
  5. Guests are served from the pan, and our area is cleared afterwards.
