What’s in the pans

Vegetable and vegan paella

A slow sofrito, seasonal vegetables and a good vegetable stock make a proper main dish. Vegan versions use plant-based stock.

Black rice

Squid ink rice is bold and savoury, and is popular with adventurous guests.

Paella catering for your event in Crouch End

Everything is cooked from scratch on site, beginning with a sofrito of onion, garlic, peppers and tomato, then the stock, saffron and rice. We’re often asked to cater staff parties and work lunches and fairs, fêtes and festivals, with mixed paella, seafood paella and chicken and chorizo paella.

From a terraced garden to a hired hall, events in Crouch End come in all shapes. Let us know where we can stop to unload, and whether there are steps or narrow passages. We serve straight from the pan, so every plate is hot, and service is quick once it’s ready.

How the day works

Serving is fast: the paella goes straight from the pan to the plate, so large groups are fed quickly. Afterwards we clear our cooking area away. Around midsummer it stays light in Crouch End until about 9:20pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so summer evening events are generally served in daylight. In December it is dark by about 3:55pm, so winter events need lighting where we cook.

  1. Contact us with the basics: when, where and how many.
  2. Expect a menu idea and a clear, itemised price.
  3. A week or so before, we confirm the plan.
  4. On the day we cook live, timed around your event.
  5. We serve, then leave our area tidy.

Preparing for the day

  • Have a gazebo or cover ready if rain is likely
  • Give us your final numbers and diets
  • Arrange parking near the cooking spot

Planning for every diet

Good planning keeps every guest safe and happy. Here’s how:

  • Ask about diets and allergies on your invitation or RSVP
  • Count adults and children separately
  • Choose two or three paellas so every guest has a choice
  • Let us know if anyone has coeliac disease

If you’ve booked staff, they’ll serve, clear and help keep things moving, so you can enjoy your guests.

Sangria and bar staff can be added to serve drinks you provide.

Can I cook paella for a crowd myself?

Plenty of people try cooking paella for their own party. The usual problems are a pan too big for the burner, too much rice and stirring once the rice is in. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us cook.

Doing it yourself saves money, but the host ends up stuck at the stove. Booking us means you get the show without the stress.

Planners, venues and businesses

Events in public spaces, like parks, usually need permission. We will provide any information the landowner or council asks for.

If you run the same event each year, tell us your dates early, so we can plan ahead.

Live paella or other catering?

With a barbecue, food comes in waves. Paella is cooked as one big dish and served together. Live paella pricing depends on the event. A simple paella lunch costs less than a wedding with canapés, three paellas and waiting staff. Your quote spells it all out.

What you get with us

12 questions to ask before you book

Your questions about paella catering in Crouch End

Can you cater a reception after a service at Christ Church?

Yes, at a garden, marquee or venue nearby with a suitable spot to cook. Churches rarely have space for live cooking, so the meal is typically elsewhere. Send us the reception address.

Can you cook in Priory Park?

Only if the landowner, typically the council, allows it. Ask them first, and we will send any information they need.

How many paellas should we have?

Most events have two or three: meat or mixed, seafood, and vegetable or vegan. We will help you decide the split.

How far ahead should we book?

Early, particularly for summer Saturdays. Ask about your date even if it is soon.

How does live paella catering work?

We arrive with pans, burners and ingredients, cook in front of your guests, and serve when you are ready to eat.

Do you cover Crouch End?

Yes, we do. We cook at events in Crouch End and across Greater London. Send us your date to check availability.

Do you bring everything you need?

Pans, burners and ingredients all come with us. You just need a suitable spot and access.

What seafood can we have?

Seafood choices are agreed when we plan the menu, including premium options if you want them.

Prices and what affects them

The price comes down to a few factors:
