Planning for every diet
Few dishes handle mixed diets as well as paella, because every paella has its own pan. Here are a few tips for planning:
- Ask about diets and allergies on your invitation or RSVP
- Ensure each pan is labelled
- Tell us what else is being served
- Tell us how many children are coming
Once everyone is fed, we clear our cooking area.
We can add sangria and bar staff for your own drinks.
Why live cooking beats a buffet
Next to a hog roast or barbecue, paella makes vegetarian, vegan and halal guests easier to cater for, because each paella has its own pan. Service from the pan keeps queues moving. Premium seafood costs more than chicken or vegetables, so the menu you choose affects the price. Tell us your budget and we will suggest a menu.
Why us?
- Paella cooked from scratch on site
- Sangria, plus bar staff for your own drinks
- Options for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests, each in its own pan
- Food that becomes part of the entertainment
Should I cook it myself?
Some hosts like to cook themselves. The usual problems are a pan too big for the burner, too much rice and stirring once the rice is in. If you’d rather be with your guests, we will do the cooking.
Cooking paella for a crowd yourself is possible, but it is harder than it looks. A big pan needs a burner that heats it evenly, and getting the rice right for dozens of people takes experience. Read how to cook paella for a crowd.
For planners, venues and organisers
For repeat events, such as annual staff parties or seasonal fairs, let us know your dates early, so we can hold the date.
Booking for a company? Tell us what your finance team needs, and we’ll talk you through the process. We are happy to liaise with facilities on access and timings.
Step by step
We take care of the food from set-up to service, so you’re free to enjoy your event. Any tapas or canapés are served first as the rice is cooking. Around midsummer it stays light in Earl's Court until about 9:20pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. For winter events, when it’s dark by about 3:55pm, we need lighting at the cooking spot.
- Contact us with the basics: when, where and how many.
- Expect a menu idea and a clear, itemised price.
- A week or so before, we confirm the plan.
- We set up, cook from scratch and keep an eye on your timings.
- Guests are served from the pan, and our area is cleared afterwards.
Preparing for the day
- Arrange a covered spot for wet weather
- Tell us where to park and unload
- Have a level space ready for the pans

Your questions about paella catering in Earl's Court
Can you cater a reception after a service at St Cuthbert's?
Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall where we can cook. Live cooking normally happens at the reception venue, not the church. Send us the reception address.
Which station should guests use for Earl's Court?
Earl's Court has its own station: West Brompton station.
Do you bring everything you need?
We bring the pans, burners and ingredients. You provide a suitable spot and access.
How much is live paella catering?
Every event is quoted individually, so you only pay for what you need. Tell us your date and numbers and we’ll reply with a price.
Is it really cooked live?
It is. We arrive with everything we need and cook on the day, then serve straight from the pan.
What seafood can we have?
Tell us your preferences and we will suggest seafood options to suit your menu and budget. Premium shellfish can be added.
Do you do vegan paella?
Yes, and meat eaters often go back for seconds. They have their own pans, stock and spoons.
What about pudding?
We can add a dessert. Let us know if you’d like one in your enquiry.
