- Flat, firm ground for the cooking area
- Clearance from fences, hedges, branches and anything flammable
- The venue’s permission for live cooking
Chelsea is in London, within the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking can be tight: tell us about parking bays, permits or a driveway.

Chelsea: venues, travel and local tips
Chelsea is about 2 miles south-east of Kensington, in Greater London. Wherever your event is in the SW3 area, we can bring the pans to you. We cook in all 764 towns and villages in Greater London.
Nearby historic houses include Carlyle's House (under half a mile south-west) and Apsley House (1.1 miles north-east). Historic venues frequently limit cooking, so ask early if you are booking one. School fairs and fundraisers, for a school such as Oratory Roman Catholic Primary School, can book us as a food stall.
Paella catering in SW3, SW10, SW1X and SW1W is planned around your venue and timings. Organising for someone else?
If you run the same event each year, tell us your dates early, so we can plan ahead.
For larger events, we plan the number of pans and serving points around your timings, so guests are fed quickly. Let us know how long the food break is.
Prices and what affects them
Two events with the same number of guests can cost different amounts, because of:
- The paellas you choose
- Distance and access to the venue
- Whether you need crockery
- How many staff you need
If you have a budget in mind, tell us, and we’ll put together a menu that fits. A simple menu can still feel generous.
Details that help
Here’s what makes a quick, accurate quote possible:
- Approximate guest numbers, including children
- A picture of the space, if you can
- Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal and allergy numbers
- What the venue already provides
We quote for each event separately, so you only pay for what you need. To ask for one, send us your details through our quote form.
What happens on the day
It’s a relaxed, well-organised set-up. Arrival and serving times are agreed beforehand, set up the pans and burners, and get on with cooking and serving. Evenings in Chelsea stay light until about 9:20pm in June, but by late September sunset is around 7:05pm; once it’s dark, we need light to cook and serve by.
- Start with the date, the place and the numbers.
- Expect a menu idea and a clear, itemised price.
- Closer to the day, we confirm timings and the cooking spot.
- We set up, cook from scratch and keep an eye on your timings.
- Guests are served from the pan, and our area is cleared afterwards.
Preparing for the day
- Confirm numbers and diets before the day
- Pick a flat, firm spot for us to cook
- Let us know who to talk to on the day
Ask for a quote
Every quote is put together for your event. Tell us your date and guest numbers, and we will confirm whether we are available that day.
Planning help
Can I cook paella for a crowd myself?
For a small group, cooking yourself can work well. For larger numbers, mixed diets or a wedding, a caterer takes the pressure off, and keeps vegetarian and allergy-safe pans separate.
Plenty of people try cooking paella for their own party. The usual problems are a pan too big for the burner, too much rice and stirring once the rice is in. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us cook.
Planning for every diet
With a little notice, every diet is easy. Our advice:
- Tell us what else is being served
- Ask about diets and allergies on your invitation or RSVP
- Plan seating for most guests: paella is easiest eaten sitting down
- Plan a meat, a seafood and a vegetable or vegan pan
Let the paella rest for a few minutes before serving, and that’s when we invite guests up.
Bread, salad and lemon go well alongside.
About the dishes
Vegetable and vegan paella
A slow sofrito, seasonal vegetables and a good vegetable stock make a paella that stands on its own. Vegan versions use plant-based stock.
Black rice
Squid ink rice is bold and savoury.
Your questions about paella catering in Chelsea
Can you cook in Burton’s Court?
Only if the landowner, normally the council, allows it. Check with them, and we will provide our paperwork.
We’re having a ceremony at Former Welsh Congregational Church: can you cater afterwards?
Yes, at a garden, marquee or venue nearby with a suitable spot to cook. Live cooking normally happens at the reception venue, not the church. Tell us where the reception will be.
What if the weather’s bad?
We need a covered spot, like a gazebo or open-sided marquee. We plan for rain with you in advance.
How do you work out quantities?
Quantities depend on numbers, timing and courses, with a little extra built in. Accurate numbers help.
How much space do you need?
A level space for the pans, burners and a serving table, outdoors or in a marquee or well-ventilated area, plus the venue’s agreement to cooking.
What areas do you cover?
We cater across London and the South East, including Greater London. See all areas.
Do you provide plates and cutlery?
Yes, on request. Crockery, cutlery and napkins, or good-quality disposables can be added to your booking.
What equipment do you bring?
Pans, burners and ingredients all come with us. You just need a suitable spot and access.
