Paella catering near Butler's Cross

Paella catering for your event in Butler's Cross

One cooking area feeds plenty of people, very little goes to waste, and the food is served hot. That’s why it works for so many events. On the menu are vegetable paella, chicken and chorizo paella and seafood paella, and we’re often booked for anniversaries and engagement parties and staff parties and work lunches.

Somewhere as small as Butler's Cross, a garden or field is often the venue. Country lanes and long drives are no problem if we know about them, and cooking close to where we can park helps. We plan the timings around your day, so the paella is ready when you want to eat.

Your questions about paella catering in Butler's Cross

Do you cater in the Chilterns National Landscape?

Yes, though some venues in protected landscapes have extra rules; ask your venue. We’ll work to whatever the site needs.

Can you cater a reception after a service at Church of St Peter and St Paul?

Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall where we can cook. Churches rarely have space for live cooking, so the meal is usually elsewhere. Send us the reception address.

When should we book?

Early, particularly for summer Saturdays. Ask about your date even if it is soon.

How do you work out quantities?

Pans are sized to your numbers and other courses. Let us know about any other food. Our guide to portions explains more.

Do you do starters?

Yes, and it’s a popular combination. Tapas first, paella to follow.

When do you arrive?

We arrive well before serving to set up and start the stock. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, and we time it to your schedule.

Do you do vegan paella?

Yes, and meat eaters frequently go back for seconds. They have their own pans, stock and spoons.

Is paella enough as a main?

It can be. Paella with bread and salad makes a full main course.

Why choose live paella in Butler's Cross?

A cold buffet is simple but has no theatre, and the food sits out. Paella is cooked in front of your guests and served hot. When you compare quotes, check what each one includes: staff, crockery, sides, travel and VAT. Our quotes spell it all out.

Why book with us

  • Hot food served quickly from the pan
  • Separate pans for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests
  • Real theatre, not just catering
  • Paella cooked from scratch on site

How we price paella catering

There’s nothing hidden: the quote reflects:

  • Travel, parking and access
  • Staff: cooks, waiting staff and bar staff
  • Extra courses such as canapés, tapas and dessert
  • How long we’re needed on site

Cost depends on guest numbers, the menu and the courses, plus any staff, crockery and travel. Every event gets its own quote.

Details that help

You don’t need every detail fixed to get a quote, but it helps to know:

  • Whether you want canapés, tapas or desserts
  • Diets and allergies you know about
  • Anything your venue supplies
  • The date and time of the event

Not sure what you need yet? That is fine: tell us about the occasion and the guests, and we’ll suggest a menu. To start, fill in our quote form.

Planning the cooking area

We cook in large pans over gas burners, so we need a suitable spot. These are the things we check:

  • Somewhere close to park and unload
  • A safe distance from anything that could catch
  • Good ventilation: outdoors, or an open-sided cover

Not sure about your space? Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly.

Popular choices

  • Vegan paella
  • Vegetable paella
  • Seafood paella
  • Black rice (arroz negro)
  • Chicken & chorizo paella
  • Paella Valenciana

Mixed paella

Mixed paella brings meat and seafood together.

Black rice

Black rice gets its colour from squid ink, and is normally served with alioli. It is a striking addition to a seafood menu.

Our caterer checklist

Catering for every guest

Nearly every event has some special diets. To plan for them:

  • Plan seating for most guests: paella is easiest eaten sitting down
  • Put allergy details in writing
  • Flag any coeliac guests, not just gluten-free preferences
  • Give us separate numbers for children

Once the rice is in, it needs about 20 minutes, so we start it at the right moment for your event. If plans change, tell us and we’ll adjust.

Add canapé tapas with the drinks or table tapas as a starter while the paella cooks.

For planners, venues and organisers

Wedding planners and venue coordinators are welcome to contact us directly, and we will keep you updated on timings and set-up.

If you’re booking for a business, tell us how you’d like to handle the booking and payment, and we’ll talk you through the process. We’re happy to liaise with facilities on access and timings.

The process

We cook over gas burners in wide, shallow pans. We need a level, ventilated spot, and we agree where that is before the day. Around midsummer it stays light in Butler's Cross until about 9:25pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so summer evening events are usually served in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 3:55pm, so winter events need lighting where we cook.

  1. You share your date, numbers and venue.
  2. We plan a menu that covers every diet.
  3. We arrive early to set up the burners and pans.
  4. The paella cooks as guests gather round.
  5. We serve hot from the pan and clear our cooking area.

How to prepare

  • Tell us when you want to eat
  • Have a level space ready for the pans
  • Have a gazebo or cover ready if rain is likely
