About our paella catering in Blackwater

Watching it cook is part of the experience. People drift over as the sofrito sizzles and the rice turns gold, and the smell does the rest. Whether it’s anniversaries and engagement parties and birthday celebrations, we will put together a menu of black rice, paella Valenciana and vegan paella and more.

In and around Blackwater, gardens and local halls are common choices. If access is tight, we will plan around it. Every pan is cooked in front of your guests, so it arrives hot and becomes part of the event.

What happens on the day

Service is quick: the paella goes straight from the pan to the plate, so even a long queue moves. When service is finished, we pack down. Around midsummer it stays light in Blackwater until about 9:25pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 3:55pm, so winter events need lighting where we cook.

  1. First, you send us your date, venue, numbers and diets.
  2. We suggest a menu and confirm a quote, including what’s included.
  3. We arrive early, set up the cooking area and start the stock.
  4. The paella cooks in front of your guests, with tapas first if you’ve chosen them.
  5. It’s served straight from the pan, and we pack down afterwards.

Why choose live paella in Blackwater?

Compared with a hog roast or barbecue, paella makes vegetarian, vegan and halal guests easier to cater for, because each paella has its own pan. It is served quickly from the pan, so queues move. There is no one-size-fits-all price for live paella. A garden party lunch and a full wedding menu are very different jobs. Your quote spells it all out.

What you get with us

  • Every diet catered for, pan by pan
  • No hidden extras in your quote
  • Sangria, plus bar staff for your own drinks
  • Paella cooked from scratch on site

Can I cook paella for a crowd myself?

Cooking it yourself? Test your pan and burner first, have hot stock ready, and don’t stir once the rice goes in. Keep a clear zone around the burner.

Plenty of people try cooking paella for their own party. The usual problems are a pan too big for the burner, too much rice and stirring once the rice is in. If you’d rather be with your guests, we will do the cooking.

Vegetable and vegan paella

Seasonal vegetables on a rich sofrito base make a proper main dish. For vegans, the stock is plant-based.

Paella Valenciana

The original paella from Valencia is a countryside dish of chicken and vegetables, rather than seafood. It is a favourite with guests who do not eat fish.

Your questions about paella catering in Blackwater

Can you cook in Sandhurst Memorial Park?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, generally the council. Ask them first, and we’ll send any information they need.

Is Blackwater close to London?

Roughly 32 miles from the centre of London, and we cover it as standard.

Is live paella good for a large crowd?

Yes. Large pans and fast service from the pan make it well suited to crowds.

Can you provide dessert?

Yes, Spanish desserts can be added. Tell us what you have in mind when you ask for a quote.

How far ahead should we book?

Early, particularly for summer Saturdays. Ask about your date even if it is soon.

Should we have more than one paella?

Two or three covers most guests. We will recommend a mix based on diets.

Do you cater for young children?

Yes, children are easy to cater for. Let us know numbers and ages, and we’ll plan for them.

Who clears up?

Our cooking area is packed away and left clean. Table clearing is available with waiting staff.
