Paella catering for your event in Watchmoor

There’s something generous about paella: big pans, bright colours and a crispy base everyone wants a spoonful of. It makes the food an event in itself. Typical bookings include engagement and anniversary parties and christenings and family gatherings, with paella Valenciana, chicken and chorizo paella and seafood paella.

A place like Watchmoor frequently has a hall, a club or a pub garden nearby; any can work for paella, with permission and somewhere outside to cook. All the cooking equipment comes with us, and we clear our cooking area away afterwards.

Most outdoor spaces and many venues work for live paella, but there are a few things to check:

  • Level ground for the pans and burners
  • Parking close enough to carry equipment
  • Good ventilation: outdoors, or an open-sided cover

If you are unsure, send a photo of the space and we’ll say what we think.

DIY paella versus live catering

If you do cook yourself, test the pan and burner together beforehand, keep the stock hot, and don’t stir once the rice goes in. Keep a clear zone around the burner.

A DIY paella party works for small groups. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, and keeps vegetarian and allergy-safe pans separate.

Dietary needs and planning tips

Few dishes handle mixed diets as well as paella, because each paella is cooked in its own pan. Here are a few tips for planning:

  • Flag any coeliac guests, not just gluten-free preferences
  • Have seats for most of your guests
  • Send allergies to us in writing
  • Tell us what else is being served

Once everyone is fed, we clear our cooking area.

Bread, salad and lemon go well alongside and suit guests who are not big rice eaters.

A closer look at the menu

Paella Valenciana

Paella Valenciana is the original: chicken, beans and saffron, not seafood. It’s a favourite with guests who don’t eat fish.

Seafood paella

Seafood paella starts with a good fish and shellfish stock. The shellfish is added late so it stays tender.

Live paella or other catering?

With a barbecue, food comes in waves. Paella is cooked as one big dish and served together. Premium seafood costs more than chicken or vegetables, so your choice of paellas affects the total. Tell us your budget and we’ll suggest a menu.

For event organisers in Watchmoor

Hosting a party at home? Send a photo of the space and tell us about parking, and we’ll tell you honestly whether live paella will work.

If you’re booking for a business, tell us how you’d like to handle the booking and payment, and we’ll talk you through the process. We can work with your facilities team on access and timings.

How the day works

When the rice goes in, it is left alone. That is how the grains cook evenly and the toasted base, the socarrat, forms. Your guests will smell it before they see it. Evenings in Watchmoor stay light until about 9:25pm in June, but by late September sunset is around 7:05pm; once it is dark, we need light to cook and serve by.

  1. First, you send us your date, venue, numbers and diets.
  2. We suggest a menu and confirm a quote, including what’s included.
  3. We arrive early, set up the cooking area and start the stock.
  4. The paella cooks in front of your guests, with tapas first if you’ve chosen them.
  5. It’s served straight from the pan, and we pack down afterwards.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know who to talk to on the day
  • Tell us when you want to eat
  • Arrange a covered spot for wet weather
