Paella catering in Ascot, cooked live

The cooking is half the fun. People drift over as the sofrito sizzles and the rice turns gold, and the aroma does the rest. For anniversaries and engagement parties and weddings, from canapés to evening food, we can cook chicken and chorizo paella, vegetable paella and seafood paella.

Somewhere as small as Ascot, a garden or field is often the venue. Country lanes and long drives are no problem if we know about them, and a firm spot near where we park makes set-up easier. Every pan is cooked in front of your guests, so the food is hot, fresh and part of the occasion.

FAQs for Ascot

Which station should guests use for Ascot?

Ascot has its own station: Ascot station.

How far is Ascot from London?

Roughly 25 miles from the centre of London.

Can you feed plenty of people?

It’s ideal. Big pans feed plenty of people, and service from the pan is quick.

Do you bring everything you need?

All cooking kit comes with us. Tell us what the venue provides, such as tables or crockery.

Do you take everything away?

Our cooking area is packed away and left clean. Table clearing is available with waiting staff.

Can you do gluten-free paella?

Yes, on request. Rice is naturally gluten-free, but stock and some ingredients may not be, so we make a separate gluten-free pan.

Do you cover Ascot?

Yes. We cover London and the South East, including Ascot and the rest of Windsor and Maidenhead. To check your date, use our quote form.

Can you cook indoors?

Indoors only where ventilation and the venue allow it. Courtyards, doorways and terraces often work.

How the day works

The paella is cooked in giant, shallow pans over gas burners. We need a level, ventilated spot, which we agree with you beforehand. Evenings in Ascot stay light until about 9:25pm in June, but by late September sunset is around 7:05pm; after dark, the cooking and serving areas need good lighting.

  1. Start with the date, the place and the numbers.
  2. We come back with paellas to suit your guests, plus any extras.
  3. A week or so before, we confirm the plan.
  4. We set up, cook from scratch and keep an eye on your timings.
  5. We serve, then leave our area tidy.

Planning help

Before you choose a spot

Live paella is cooked over gas burners in large pans, so the cooking area needs a little planning. These are the things we check:

  • Flat, firm ground for the cooking area
  • Parking close enough to carry equipment
  • Clearance from fences, hedges, branches and anything flammable

If you’re unsure, send a photo of the space and we will say what we think.

Popular choices

  • Vegetable paella
  • Black rice (arroz negro)
  • Mixed paella
  • Paella Valenciana
  • Vegan paella
  • Seafood paella
  • Chicken & chorizo paella

DIY paella versus live catering

Weighing up DIY against a caterer? Think about numbers, diets and how much you want to enjoy the day. We are happy to give you a quote to compare.

Hiring a pan and burner is one option, but there is shopping, prep and hours of cooking. We take care of all of it.

How we price paella catering

There’s nothing hidden: the price is based on:

  • Starters, canapés and desserts
  • Staff: cooks, waiting staff and bar staff
  • Your choice of paellas
  • The number of people

The cost per head normally falls as numbers rise, since the set-up is much the same either way. Tell us your numbers for an accurate price.

Getting an accurate quote

When you contact us, it helps to tell us:

  • A picture of the space, if you can
  • Roughly how many adults and children
  • The address or venue name
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal and allergy numbers

It is easy to get a price: tell us the date, place, numbers and any dietary needs. We will send a clear, itemised quote and a suggested menu.

Organising for someone else?

If you run the same event each year, tell us your dates early, so we can hold the date.

Planners and coordinators can contact us directly, and we will keep everyone informed on the day.

Planning for every diet

Dietary needs are easy to plan for with a little notice. Our advice:

  • Ask for labels on each pan
  • Mention any other courses or food
  • Choose two or three paellas so every guest has a choice
  • Add a dietary question to your invitations

Paella is at its best straight from the pan, so we serve when guests are ready.

Add canapé tapas with the drinks or table tapas as a starter while the paella cooks.

Events we cater in Ascot

Paella is quick to serve and suits mixed diets, which is why it works for so many occasions. It also gives guests something to watch and talk about.

Almost any gathering can work with live paella. People in Ascot book us for occasions like:

  • Milestone birthday parties
  • Anniversaries and engagement parties
  • Festivals, fairs and school events
  • Christenings and family gatherings

For a christening or wedding at a church such as Church of All Souls, a paella lunch or reception nearby is an easy way to feed everyone.

Before booking anyone

  • How dietary needs and allergies are handled
  • The wet-weather plan
  • Who provides the crockery
  • How many staff are coming, and for how long

Dishes our guests love

Black rice

Arroz negro is coloured and flavoured with squid ink, and is typically served with alioli. It is a striking addition to a seafood menu.

Vegetable and vegan paella

Seasonal vegetables on a rich sofrito base make a paella that stands on its own. Vegan versions use plant-based stock.

  • Cooked live in giant pans at your event
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal options
  • Paella, tapas, canapés and desserts
  • Sangria, bar staff, crockery and waiting staff
