Paella catering in Allhallows-on-Sea
Can I cook paella for a crowd myself?
You can hire equipment and do it yourself, but you’ll still need to source ingredients, prep and cook for hours. A caterer handles all of that.
Some hosts like to cook themselves. Common mistakes are mismatched pans and burners, overfilling and stirring. If you’d rather be with your guests, we’ll do the cooking.
Paella catering in Allhallows-on-Sea, cooked live
Two or three pans side by side cover every guest: meat, seafood and vegetarian or vegan paellas. Each is cooked separately. We cook black rice, seafood paella and mixed paella, and typical bookings are for fairs, fêtes and festivals and milestone birthday parties.
Somewhere as small as Allhallows-on-Sea, a garden or field is often the venue. Tell us about narrow lanes or long drives and we’ll plan for them, and a firm spot near where we park makes set-up easier. We cook every pan in full view of your guests, so it arrives hot and becomes part of the event.
Dishes our guests love
Paella Valenciana
Paella Valenciana is the original: chicken, beans and saffron, rather than seafood. It is frequently the most popular pan at an event.
Mixed paella
Chicken and seafood together.
Before you choose a spot
Before the day, we will agree where we cook. A good spot ticks these boxes:
- Parking close enough to carry equipment
- A safe distance from anything that could catch
- Confirmation that open cooking is allowed
If you’re unsure, send a photo of the space and we will say what we think before you book.

Why live cooking beats a buffet
Plated meals need a kitchen and a bigger team. Live paella needs only a level, ventilated spot and permission to cook, and gives guests something to watch. Access and travel can make a difference to the cost, so tell us about the venue when you ask for a quote. The full price is confirmed before you book.

Planning for every diet
Every guest is catered for, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal included. To get it right:
- Have seats for most of your guests
- Ensure each pan is labelled
- Count adults and children separately
- Tell us what else is being served
Let the paella rest for a few minutes before serving, which is when we normally call guests over.

The process
Once the rice is in, we do not stir it. That is how the grains cook evenly and the toasted base, the socarrat, forms. Your guests will smell it before they see it. Around midsummer it stays light in Allhallows-on-Sea until about 9:20pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:00pm, so summer evening events are normally served in daylight. In December it is dark by about 3:50pm, so winter events need lighting where we cook.
