FAQs for Langney

What’s the nearest station to Langney for guests?

Pevensey & Westham station, about 1.1 miles north-east of the centre.

Can you cook in Princes Park?

Only if the landowner, generally the council, allows it. Ask them first, and we will send any information they need.

How many different paellas?

Two or three is usual: meat or mixed, seafood, and vegetable or vegan. We will help you decide the split.

Do you cater for vegetarian guests?

Yes. Vegetarian and vegan paellas are cooked in separate pans.

What paperwork do you provide?

Send us your list and we’ll respond.

Is the paella cooked on site?

Yes. We arrive with everything we need and cook it there and then, then serve straight from the pan.

Do you cater for young children?

Yes. Children frequently love a simple chicken paella. Include children in your numbers.

Will there be enough food?

We size the pans for your numbers and the rest of the menu. Tell us what else is being served. Our guide to portions explains more.

Catering for every guest

Dietary needs are easy to plan for with a little notice. We suggest:

  • Schedule crew meals
  • Check allergen info is on display
  • Give traders a single information pack
  • Check how many portions traders can serve

We cook in full view of visitors, and serve from the pan throughout the event.

Bowl food for easy eating on the move.

Cook it yourself or book a caterer?

Plenty of people try cooking paella for their own party. The usual problems are a pan too big for the burner, too much rice and stirring once the rice is in. If you’d rather be with your guests, we’ll do the cooking.

For a small group, cooking yourself can work well. For larger numbers, mixed diets or a wedding, a caterer takes the pressure off, and keeps vegetarian and allergy-safe pans separate.

What’s in the pans

Seafood paella

Seafood paella is always popular.

Giant paella pans

The giant pan is the star.

Step by step

We get there well before serving, unload, set up the burners and prepare the stock. Guests normally gather round to watch while it cooks. At midsummer, events in Langney stay light until about 9:15pm, so evening trading typically finishes in daylight in high summer. For winter markets, dark by about 3:55pm, the pitch needs lighting.

  1. Send the event name, expected visitors and pitch size.
  2. You get our stall menu and what we need on site.
  3. We send the documents the event asks for.
  4. We time the first pans for the lunchtime rush.
  5. When trading ends, the pitch is cleared and left clean.

Planning help

What festival paella catering costs

Live paella pricing is straightforward once we know the basics:

  • How many guests are eating
  • Crockery and cutlery, or disposables
  • The paellas you choose
  • Staff: cooks, waiting staff and bar staff

Travel, parking and access can affect the price, so it helps to tell us about your venue. The full price is confirmed before you book.

Getting an accurate quote

We can quote more accurately with a few details. Here’s what to include:

  • Anything your venue supplies
  • Approximate guest numbers, including children
  • Any dietary needs and allergies
  • The date and time of the event

We need only a few details to quote: the date, where the event is, how many guests and any dietary needs. You can fill in our quote form.

Paella compared with other options

Burger stalls are common. A paella pan stands out in a food line-up. Seafood and premium ingredients cost more than chicken or vegetable paellas, so the menu you choose affects the price. We will suggest options to suit your budget.

Why us?

  • Catering across East Sussex, including Langney
  • Waiting staff and crockery on request
  • Options for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests, each in its own pan
  • Food that becomes part of the entertainment

How to compare caterers

Planners, venues and businesses

Venues often have their own rules about outside caterers: where cooking is allowed, access times and the paperwork they need. Tell us what your venue needs and we’ll work to it.

Events in public spaces, like parks, usually need permission. We can send whatever the landowner or council needs from us.

Langney events: pitches and permissions

Langney is about 2 miles north-east of Eastbourne, in East Sussex. Tell us where your event in Langney will be, and we will plan access and set-up before the day. Langney is one of 289 towns and villages in East Sussex we cover. We cook right across the region, from Langney to Brighton (about 20 miles away).

School fairs, for a school like Langney Primary Academy, are a natural fit for a paella stall. Running a fête for a church like St. Richard? A paella pan draws people in. Within about 7 miles is the South Downs National Park, where events may have extra rules on vehicles and waste; we work to the site rules. The coast is within about 3 miles of Langney, so for seaside events we plan a sheltered pitch.

Here we cover the BN23 postcode area, and we can cater your event anywhere in it. Local streets include Priory Road, Priory Lane and Pembury Road; an event at home on any of them works well with live paella. We also cook at events in Westham (1 mile north), Pevensey (2 miles north-east), Jenkins' Green (2 miles north), Pevensey Bay (2 miles north-east) and Normans' Bay (4 miles north-east).
