Planning the cooking area

No two venues are the same, so we ask about the space when you contact us. Generally, we look for:

  • Vehicle access to the pitch at set-up and break-down
  • Clearance from tents and gazebos
  • Room for our cooking and serving area

Kensal Rise is in London, within the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking can be tight: tell us about parking bays, permits or a driveway.

If you’re unsure, send a photo of the space and we’ll say what we think.

You can cook paella for a crowd yourself, but it takes practice. A big pan needs a burner that heats it evenly, and getting the rice right at scale is tricky. Our guide to cooking paella for a crowd explains how.

What festival paella catering costs

Every event is priced individually, based on a few main things:

  • The paellas you choose
  • Timings and hours
  • Travel, parking and access
  • Extra courses such as canapés, tapas and dessert

Compared with a plated meal, live paella is frequently good value, because it needs no kitchen and fewer staff. Ask us for a quote.

Details that help

When you contact us, it helps to tell us:

  • Approximate guest numbers, including children
  • The courses you’d like
  • What the venue already provides
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal and allergy numbers

Every event is quoted individually, so the price fits what you actually want. To ask for one, use our quote form.

Diets, allergies and planning

We cater for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests. To get it right:

  • Provide seating near the food
  • Put all trader information in one pack
  • Check how many portions traders can serve
  • Feed crew and volunteers at set times

At the end, we clear the pitch and leave it clean.

Crew, volunteer and VIP catering.

How the day works

On the day, we set up the burners and pans and start cooking the sofrito and stock. The rice goes in about 20 minutes before serving, so the timing is planned around your event. For an evening event in Kensal Rise, sunset is about 8:55pm in late May and 9:20pm in late June; after dark, we need a lit pitch.

  1. Send us your event details and pitch information.
  2. We confirm menu, pitch needs and documents.
  3. We arrive and set up at the agreed time.
  4. We cook in full view and serve all event.
  5. We clear and leave the pitch clean.
